Recovering from smoked Liteon which still works in console..

Post by lowpost99 »

Guys, I could use your advice on a subject or two. I've been away from this for about a year or so but anyway I plugged in the power from the CK3 Pro upside down like Coffee did in the 1st sticky(damn I wish I had not rushed, and gotten a better re-primer) and got smoke smell on my Liteon 83850c w/ixtreme1.6FW. I was attempting to flash it with LT+ to get AP2.5 abilities, when this happened. I let it air out, and plugged it back into the 360, and I tested it and it's still playing games. The question now is if the burn damage(which is near where the key extraction took place a year ago will cause any issues with me trying to update the FW from 1.6 to LT+. The lights on my CK3 are still coming on, and I have the original drive key for the Liteon 83850c. I have 2 additional 360's which I can spoof to, but would like advice on which drive would be the best choice for my July 2009 Elite(Jasper) to spoof, & get to LT+FW w/o additional HW parts or HW mod. My additional DVD drives on hand are:
1)Benq VA6038 (this is already running 1.5 or 1.4) from an Jan 2008 360
HW vers: J-DA1A4
FW vers: 64930c
and
2) Hitachi TS-H943( This one is running 1.4 for sure, and iis from a 2006 360

Only other thing I may want to consider which is best for a desktop backup creation drive that I can leave near the PC.

if it still works then you should be fine to update the firmware
i would give it a try any way
if you have the orig dump from your drive you dont need to dump again
just build your firmware from that and flash it in
if you dont and the drive has LT firmware on it you will have to do the mra hack to get it to dump

a benq dvd drive flashed with 0800

dont spoof in a dvd drive
it does not work with the new LT+ firmnware

Coffee thanks for that green light on my 83850c. Now the weird thing is I previously used JF 1.66 Beta to extract my key and the files are the .bin type like dummy, inquiry, identify and Lite_CFW.bin. I really am not sure which is the needed original key, and none of these are the type that the directions in the current JF tut speak to on pp.87 of the JF 1.3.8 tut. (this is under support for earlier Liteon Dumps on p.9) in which they indicate that I need a unique.key.bin file. JF 1.66 did not create this type of file for me upon key extract, I have the Jf.log which shows my DVD key I think. If worse comes to worse, and I can't find the files needed, can I cut and paste the key from the text of the log file into the field where JF wants it before fixing the new LT+ FW?

The second item in the tut that I am having an issue with is locating the JungleFlasher Firmware Pack which seems to be an add-on of some type, but I can't find it anywhere using autoxbins. Could this be causing my 1st issue?

you would use the dummy file as source file in jungle flasher
and the the target would be the LT+ firmware

as long as you know that dummy is from the dvd drive you should be good to go

:D Cofree, Thanks, something clicked: I read this and the next few pages of the tut seemed to mimic a manual spoof(this what I recall from over a year back) which made more sense to me. I opened the dummy.bin and matched the drive key to the jf.log from the previous extraction, and knew I was home free as long as the drive got a good response into vendor mode. It wrote out the newly spoofed LT+fw and I tested ok. :P Thanks very much and I can rep you if you tel me how to do it.

Just curious but any thoughts as to why my 83850c used those other 4 files vs. the file needed in the tut unique.key.bin and the L083 function would not work. Seems like all this would produce is a dummy.bin anyway in the end. I also didn't understand why the inst. for the 78450c seemed more like my files, but I got a warning when I pointed the dummy gen button at one of the files....
I assume you didn't mention responding in regards to this firmware pack....seems like it only saves a couple of keystrokes...am I getting this right?

:D
you just did
thanks

when you get a dummy file from a lite on dvd drive it is made up of all those other files
you can build your hacked firmware from them
but the guys made it create a dummy file which makes the process much easier
