"Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am has been unveiled as the new Director of Creative Innovation at computer chip makers Intel. Wait, what?"
The man partially responsible for unleashing 'My Humps' on an undeserving world will apparently work with Intel on innovating ways in which music and other media work on tablets and smartphones.
It's not the first unexpected foray of a multi-million-selling pop star into the role of technology executive - Lady Gaga was announced as Creative Director of camera firm Polaroid last year, resulting in the unveiling of her Grey Label range of devices at CES 2011.
Grammy-winning will.i.am - or William James Adams, Jr, as his mum still calls him - was revealed in his new role at in internal Intel sales conference in Anaheim, California. He was already kitted out with an Intel worker's ID badge, although it's not clear how often he'll actually be popping into the office.

In celebration of his new role, Mr i.am enthusiastically tweeted: 'Its official. I just became the Director of Creative Innovation for intel. every beat I make is made with intel. And now were partners.'
The 'Don't Phunk With My Heart' star is no stranger to technology company tie-ins - in 2008, he collaborated with BlackBerry makers Research In Motion to help combine social networking with multimedia. Although apparently he still hasn't worked out where the apostrophe key is on his BlackBerry.
'When I see an Intel chip I think of all the creative minds involved that help to amplify my own creativity,' will.i.am said in a statement released by the company.
