firmware version?
firmware version?
hi. i'm planning to get a 2nd hand xbox 360. so is there a way to check what version of mod firmware that was flashed on the dvd drive?
Re: firmware version?
Only way to tell would be to dump the firmware and open it with firmware toolbox. It should tell you what version it is.

Re: firmware version?
Without knowing what drive the 360 has, I can't point you to a specific guide, but there are plenty of guides in the tutorial section to get you started with. When you get your 360 and find out what drive it has in it, I can point you to a little more specific help on the subject.

Re: firmware version?
Depends what DVD-ROM drive you have. Check here:
Then check the tutorial section for information about how to dump the firmware for your drive. If you have a Samsung, BenQ, or older Hitachi, make sure not to flash the newest iXtreme Firmware without doing a restore first. Restoring the drive flashes it back to the stock firmware. From there you can flash whatever version of the iXtreme firmware you want. Once you know which drive you have, check the tutorials section for guides on how to dump the firmware for your drive model.

Re: firmware version?
Hmmmm
The benQ dont have a firmware that old.
all benq firmware can be flashed over without doing a restore.
Yes the samsung has some that would need to have a restore done first but it would be a very old firmware indeed.

Re: firmware version?
Thats interesting because I have never restored a samsung or a benq before flashing. If I didn't have the original firmware of an ms-25 or a ms-28, then I just dumped the firmware, got the key and injected it with firmware toolbox into a copy of a key blanked ms-25 or ms-28 drive, then made my custom firmware from that. Then flashed it. They've all worked like a charm like that. Hitachi's on the other hand, I always restore them before flashing.

Re: firmware version?
i could be wrong about
but i was thinking that some of the oldest firmwares on the samsung you had to do a some kind of restore.
before you put a new firmware on the drive

Re: firmware version?
Don't look at me, I'm going by CoFree and Sadalius say lol.
So if a BenQ or Samsung drive is flashed with Xtreme or iXtreme, do you have to perform a restore before flashing it with a newer or different version of the Xtreme/iXtreme firmware?

Re: firmware version?
Like I said, from my experience, I've never restored any version of samsung or benq before reflashing. In fact, I've had some that I didn't have an original for and did either one of two things, either injected the key into a key blanked stock firmware or just dumped the hacked firmware and made a new version from that.

Re: firmware version?
yea. i downloaded the textbook.
its ok guys. atleast theres something that we can learn from. like which drive needs to be restored first n which drive can be just flashed over the previous firmware version.
thanks!
