My Xbox 360 came with a Lite-On 93450C, but recently the DVD drive became faulty, so I bought a Lite-On 74850C drive. I put the original drive's stock FW (Lite-On 93450C) on the replacement drive. The drive got updated to 02510C firmware via xbox live update, but the drive tray doesn't close. Every time I close it, it just opens again and the power light keeps flashing on the xbox 360.
Why is this happening?
Why am I doing wrong?
Is it because I need to spoof the replacement drive as a Lite-On 93450C?
Thanks

Re: LiteOn 74850C/0251C Stock Firmware
Both the 74850c and the 93450c versions got updated to 02510C, so I don't think it would be the problem as both drives would have the same firmware now (see bottom of post). That being said, if it happened right after you took the update, it might be related.
Some things to look at:
Try dumping the drive again and reflashing. If something is wrong with the firmware, this might fix it.
Physical damage to drive- If the tray came off track in any way, it might not be locking properly. Just a slight misalignment or being one tooth off on the gearing can cause this. Another thing to check is if the magnet on the dvd housing (the one that holds the dvd in place when it spins) hasn't come loose. You could also check to see if the laser is stuck. Here is a guide to fixing this: http://www.instructables.com/id/Fixing- ... 60s-with-/ The instructions start on the second page. I would probably stop at the part where the laser gets unstuck, not actually do the rest of the mod unless it becomes an issue again.
What became faulty on the first drive? If it was just a laser, I would say replace the laser and you will have a nice working spare.
Drive Model: DG-16D2S
Original Firmware versions prior to System Update 2.0.13146.0:
74850C
83850C v1
83850C v2
93450C
02510C
New FW for all the versions listed after System Update 2.0.13146.0 is 02510C
