Sorry for not making a new post,
I am using Sony DVD+RDL disc all of my back ups have been successfully expect for GTA IV & Grid. I am burning at 1xs or sometimes at 4xs with clone cd. As for flash speed I flashed at 12x
GTA IV
Re: GTA IV
sony is good disc i would use verbatim
dont burn any faster than 2.4x speed.
maybe flash at 8x firmware speed.
you could also burn a new copy of one of them and see what/how that does.

Re: GTA IV
Sony discs are regarded as okay, but they are not nearly as good of quality as Verbatim. Sony's outsourcing has gone from Taiwan to Singapore to Malaysia. It could be a media issue, that is the first thing I would look at. I realize your other backups work okay, but questionable media doesn't fail with every game, it just fails some of the time and it will fail repeatedly at that. I suggest picking up a 3 pack of Verbatim's and seeing if they will work for GTA IV and GRID. Burning at 4x is fine as long as you don't have anything else running while burning and your burner is fairly new. Make sure your firmware is up to date and your burner is in DMA mode (if it's an IDE drive). Check for firmware updates here: http://forum.rpc1.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Here's a guide for enabling DMA mode in Windows XP:
http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just type your make and model drive in the search box and make sure it's up to date.
Aside from that, make sure you aren't running Firefox, Anti-Virus, P2P programs, ITunes, and have a bunch of stuff auto updating in the background. Before burning open task manager and make sure your CPU usage is below 4%.

Re: GTA IV
yup i burn at 4x since it's the lowest for these verbs i get, an haven't had a problem yet.
probably won't have any either.
i'm sure sony is ok, but i wouldn't want my laser to read anything but verbs and original games.
just preference i guess.
