Mayor of London Boris Johnson has linked violent games with the rising tide of knife crime in the UK.

As reported by MCV, Johnson has penned an article for the London paper in which he states that young people need to be taught that "knives are not cool".
"I want to counteract the damaging influences drug-addled celebrities and violent videogames and the lure of the life in the gang by providing opportunities," he said.
It is not the first time outspoken Johnson has criticized the videogame industry. Back in January 2007 he wrote an opinion piece in The Telegraph in which he said that it was “time to garrote the Game Boy and paralyze the PlayStation”.
