im not sure why you are getting a mds file.
but
the rara file
i think is just the way your computer indexed the iso file.
how big is the iso/rar file you have.
if you open a game dump you will get a ts and andio file

Remember that just because your backup has a rar icon doesn't mean it's a rar file, it means that isos, mds files, and disc image files are associated with Winrar in Windows. If you have mp3's set to play with Windows Media Player they will appear with a WMP icon in Windows, this is the same concept. So you may think it's a rar or zip file when in fact it's an iso and you extracted the iso thinking it was a zip or rar file. The giveaway is the video ts folder. If you put a 360 game in a normal DVD-ROM drive while running Windows the game will read as video ts/audio ts files, which is a standard DVD movie setup. If you got an mds file then you either used DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, or Alcohol 120% to create the backup. I think you have a backup of a game, saw the rar icon and assumed it's a rar or zip file. Try loading the mds file into ImgBurn and see if it loads up like a normal iso file. A screen capture would be helpful if you load the file in ImgBurn and want to confirm it is a disc image (iso) file.

So was the file an iso or a rar archive? Just disable hide extensions for known file types in Windows Explorer and you can check the file extension to confirm. If it's a disc image file, simply load into ImgBurn and burn as normal.
