Lite-On IT expected to ship up to 5 million Xbox 360 DVD-ROM drives in 3Q08
by: Jimmy Hsu
Lite-On IT delivered four million DVD-ROM drives used in Xbox 360 consoles in the second quarter of 2008 and the shipment volume for the third quarter is estimated to increase by 20-25% to 4.8-5.0 million units, according to component suppliers in Taiwan.
Microsoft has lowered retail prices for 20GB Xbox 360 bundles and plans to offer 60GB bundle in an attempt to promote sales over the summer, traditionally a peak sales period for game consoles.

Re: Lite-On IT expected to ship up to 5 million
I was hoping the 20GB model would be a permanent solution at $300 instead of it being discontinued. MS really should quit reaming the customer and manufacture a 360 that allows the user to install any SATA hard disk they wish. That is one of the coolest innovations of the PS3. That said, with the addition of the ability to install games to the HDD, the 20GB model is certainly not going to do the job there. Also, how about a console with eSATA? That would be a great innovation, eSATA is soooo much faster than USB.
