I need help!!! Ready to flash!

Post by Freebeer187 »

Hey, I am just about to flash my drive. I have conencted my via card and installed the drivers. I can get the usb to boot. Here is where i am stuck:

1. Where is the 7 and 5 digit serial located? (Do we just make it up?

2. I cannot get the drive to be read! It just sits at 0x73 and doesnt move. There are two SATA slots on the card and i tried both. I am using the 360 to power the drive. I waited over a minute while the 360 was running.

What am i doing wrong? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The serial number is located on the back of your 360. It is not just made up but It is just a reference number for you to keep track of your flash. If you are having problems with your sata card this is not related to your serial number. What drive do you have?

Don't connect the sata cable till after you've booted to DOS. Once you get to the DOS prompt, connect the sata cable and power up the drive. Then give the command to read the firmware. Dosflash will prompt you to resend, answer Y, then it will try to read the firmware. It should toggle between two status codes. Turn of the Benq and wait about 5 seconds. Turn on the Benq and the drive status should lock onto the proper status and begin reading. Once you get the firmware read, the rest of it should be pretty simple.

Well, actually, it could be a Samsung. But since he's using iprep and his post talked about dosflash commands, I felt comfortable that he had a Benq. It's basically the same thing on the Samsung though with Dosflash so either way, it should work if it's going to.

What happened freebeer??

i dont see were it will matter if its a flash or a floppy.it should do the same thing.
you should use the sata plug closest to the front of your computer.try it first

this is the guide you are looking at right.

I just tried the second pc. No go. I have tried :

Turning on the system and connecting it as soon at i load the iprep.

Leaving the system off and turning it on after pressing y at "press y to send the information"

I also have the video cable connected (if that matters)

Just tried that. Still no go. Now it sits at 0xFF. It looked so easy in the video!

here are the steps i take:

load iprep.
press y to accept
plug in sata cable from pc to 360 drive
enter dBen ####### #####
press enter
it tells me "ensure the drive is off and press any key to continue" (my drive is off but conected)
i press any key
It asks me to send info i press yes
When it sits at 0xFF i turn on the 360 with all cables connected and no response.

what am i doing wrong?

one of two things
The computer is not seeing the 360 dvd drive that would be a card plug or cable.
or you are not waiting long enough for the 360 to boot up and start flashing D1
the sata cable is pluged into the plug closest to the front of the computer right.
the steps you are doing look right.

it want hurt how every long you wait i would say not more than 2 min should be more than enough.

make sure that you build the iprep flash from the same computer you are doing the flash with
you did put a check in the patch MTK flash right
