2007's Overlord, from Codemasters and Triumph Studios, gave gamers control over a humorously evil dark lord who could exercise his supreme authority through Gremlin-like "Minions."
The game sold over a million copies, according to Codemasters, and the company announced Thursday three new entries in the Overlord series that will arrive in 2009.
Overlord II will come out for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and is currently in development by Triumph.
Overlord: Dark Legend will arrive on Wii, complete with Remote Minion control, while the puzzle action game Overlord Minions will land on DS.
Even though the original has sold over a million copies, Overlord, with its unique gameplay and tongue-in-cheek humor, has gained a cult status through word of mouth.
“As a million-plus seller Overlord is now a significant brand in the ever-growing Codemasters portfolio,” said Barry Jafrato, Codemasters sr. VP of brand.
