MS-28 flashed on an nForce board in Vista

Post by lilrevuk »

...It can be done :P

Has to be done with Dosflash32, and you may have to hex-edit dosflash.typ to get it recognise the correct ports, but it can be done (depends on the chipset, nforce 4 is supported).

Before you start, make sure you use the primary port on your chipset for the flash....

1. Load into windows without the sata cable connected to the drive
2. Power the drive, connect to the sata port. Open device manager and scan for hardware changes (this won't show any changes, but seems to detect something).
3. With the drive turned on, open Dosflash32. It should say MTKVendor command failed on the port you are using (you can check dosflash is trying the right port with IPrep), and asks you if you want to resend the command. Click yes, turn the drive off and then on after 3-5 seconds. If dosflash asks to resend the command to any other ports, click no...
4. After a short while, it should list the drives which are connected to that port (shows as TSST-XXXX, not as Xtreme-Pri)
select read and off you go. Always dump twice (I do anyway to double check the key is valid)...
5..... ALWAYS check your key in FWToolbox. You'll need to use it anyway to add your key to the hacked firmware, so make sure you check your key is valid. Load your firmware, copy the key, then load the Ixtreme of your choice and paste the key into that.
6. Now you have a hacked FW with your key flash it with dosflash32 (this should have been left open). Job done!!! No need for 10 sec/bad flash method or a VIA card ever again :geek:

I do benqs with IPrep, never had the need to try this with them, but I'm pretty sure it would work
