You can flash drives using another xbox ... as long as you got the correct key in the drive for the corresponding motherboard.
But from what I read, I think you are about to open up drives and switch the hardware thats inside ? or am I reading this wrong?

What your talking about is very risky. It can be done this way if the drives are the same drives. Example, if both of them are say samsung ms-28's, or both of them are hitachi 78 FK's. But like I said, this is pretty dangerous. I can say that I wouldn't attempt it. If I were going to do something like this, I would just get a willem and pull the chip off the busted drive and read the dump the firmware through the willem so I could have the key and then just buy a replacement drive to replace the busted one with. In all reality though, I would find someone that does this kind of work and send the drive to them to get the key whilst I ordered a replacement drive.
