Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6

Post by peacock »

hi guys - it seems that there are alot of tuts regarding this new liteon drive....ive just been watching the video to this latest
"Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6"....seems straight forward enough...just a few questions though

1. ive got a rs232 nul modem cable here...female at both ends...will this do ?
2. my connectivity kit is ck3 pro..with probe ..it has got a usb and a rs232 port..can i use either ?
3. in the video...when making the flash drive...how do you come about selecting drive G...can it be anything else ?
4. after you have got your key, enquiry and identify files...it says to boot out of dos, go into windows and back up these files....where will these files be located ?

sorry to sound so simple..but im a complete noob at this and ive got everything ready to go but havnt the guts to take my new 3 day old xbox apart and flash it...might mess it up....lol

has far as i know it cant be a null cable .it need to be a strait through.
peacock wrote:2. my connectivity kit is ck3 pro..with probe ..it has got a usb and a rs232 port..can i use either ?
not with iprep you have to use the rs232.there are no usb drivers for dos.
peacock wrote:3. in the video...when making the flash drive...how do you come about selecting drive G...can it be anything else ?
when you plug the flash in the computer it will get a drive letter assigned to it.that is the letter you will use.

in the backup folder.i think the lite-on files are in the root of the flash though

after you get the dump of the files
wait till firtool runs and builds your hacked firmware and it green

right
what ever your drive letter is it will be in the root of that flash drive.

i would use iprep 8.6 to do all of it.
just like the video

It's just a standard serial cable. You can get them on ebay, radio shack or somewhere like that. Here is a link to a site that you can order one from:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812123083" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You need one with a male connector on one end to connect to the CK3 and the other end needs a female end to connect to your computers serial port.

Personally, I'd recommend doing the flashing part through DOS, using iprep. Doing it that way, you'll get everything you need through DOS and you won't have to fool with changing drivers or none of that other stuff. Just use the drivers that came with your card and you should be good on that part.

If you want to try it with jungleflasher through windows, you'll need to uninstall your VIA drivers and install the portio32 driver, which really isn't a driver at all, but I'll not get into that to try and not confuse you.

Hello Cofree! I'am so happy right now thanks to you and your tutorials , but i have some questions :D. I had my xbox 360 elite on service at the microsoft , then when i got it back they had changed the driver and i got the Lite-on :). Anyway I'am not sad anymore thnx to you mate!. I watched your tutorial about flashing the Lite-on and i have some question.

1. Should i just take the dvd drive away from xbox ? and start following your tutorial?
2. what do i need the connectivity kit to ? more then to get power from the computer?
3. In the tutorial 4:10 min about firmtool and key. I don't know how to get that beacuse you didn't show how?
4.And I need an USB Memory do i have to take in some programs on it , if then wich ? and let it connected at the USB port (computer)all the time. ?.
5. Do I need anything more then connectivity kit , RS323 and Ixtreme 1.5 firmware?
6. If i make a misstake by pressing fail number for example what do i need to do?

Sry for the Noobie question but this the first time i will do it so its kind of hard :)
I Would be so happy and thankfull if you answear this questions!
Thankxx för the tutorial and keep up !
Flashed Hitachi: 40 +, sammy 50+ BenQ around 80 + and LiteOn 100+
This is thnx to RHPG!

first thing
man you are hi-jacking some one else post.
Gony wrote:2. what do i need the connectivity kit to ?
for all of it
you have to power the dvd drive with it
you will get your dump through it.
Gony wrote:3. In the tutorial 4:10 min about firmtool and key. I don't know how to get that beacuse you didn't show how?
it will start on its own
you just have to wait for it to start.
there have been people that turned off there computer thinking it was done.
you must wait for firmtool to run and build your hacked firmware.
Gony wrote:4.And I need an USB Memory do i have to take in some programs on it
no programs
the flash is what you will boot your computer on.iprep will make it a usb boot flash.
Gony wrote:5. Do I need anything more then connectivity kit , RS323 and Ixtreme 1.5 firmware?
you may need a compatible chipset.
like this one.
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Gony wrote:6. If i make a misstake by pressing fail number for example what do i need to do?

just start over

the thing you must do is make sure your key is good.
then after you need to make a copy of all that info for safe keep.somewhere off your computer also.

if you have any more questions just start your own thread.
thanks

hi cofree you said to my question:

"3. in the video...when making the flash drive...how do you come about selecting drive G...can it be anything else ?

when you plug the flash in the computer it will get a drive letter assigned to it.that is the letter you will use."

So you actually use a USB FLASH DRIVE ??? :? ..because you say "when you plug the flash in the computer"....is that right...?
