using an ms28 (new) in a hitachi console (ver. 47dj)
using an ms28 (new) in a hitachi console (ver. 47dj)
hello all fellow rookie here with experience on computers. I too, am in this doods situation. I just purchased a used 360 off feebay as the only problem w/it was the optical drive. the seller stated that you can't lay it vertically however, i don't regardless as I have mine laid down horizontally. Long story short, I also purchased an ms28 off feebay as well, studied cofree vid tutorial for iprep vers 8.6 * applied it to 8.8 instead (similar however only difference is not having to put all three files, only the one that pertains to the drive which is better) then prepared the bootable usb & got it going, however, knowing that this was a new drive, when it was reading, it kept erroring out stating sam-ofw.bin does not exist. I went back to klutsch forum read up & realized the changes he made w/ ver. 8.8 (in this case to not include, the - but rather type it in as samofw.bin. afterwards it read successfully however if i recall correctly, i think it read that it was an invalid key (for obvious reasons of course, it's a new drive) anyhow, i went ahead & flashed it & resulted in success. But as usual when i tested it, it asked me to put in a dvd. @ this point i knew i had to dump the hitachi drive version (it's a hitachi console as that's what it came with ver. 47dj) I've been studying these tutorials as well viewtopic.php?f=110&t=881 & viewtopic.php?f=110&t=233 along w/ the older hit drive flashing vid. however, I just dumped the hitachi drive using the restore method but this is where I'm a bit confused. I know i have to use the key for the original drive (hitachi) however considering the ms28 is new i know I'm going to have to spoof it but, I'm not suppose to use the the samofw nor the cfw i got when i previously flashed the ms28 because i know for a fact it wouldn't work. correct me if i'm wrong. the other q i have is I got a so called og ms28b firmware from some other site that was listed here in the forums (uncertain if ok to post but i'll leave it as annonymous) & was wondering if that would suffice or be legit I haven't checked it in firmware tools as I wanted to confirm with the big cheese (masters) of the forums & verify if it would work & lead me in the right direction. any help from cofree, sadalius & others is greatly appreciated as I've already spent almost a weeks worth of research & late, late nights doing my homework on this . tools I'm using: via card, ck3 kit pro, win xp hitachi 47dj & new ms28. Look forward to hearing from you guys & thanks. btw, just wanted to say that the tutorials are cool & are of great help just lacks some tidbits here & there that might throw us rookies off a bit if you catch my drift. off to dump my hitachi drive via restore & will save results as I know i'm going to need it in the next step. sorry for the book writing O_O
Re: using an ms28 (new) in a hitachi console (ver. 47dj)
by the way i forgot to mention, the proper way of dumping the hitachi key is as follows, right? per this tutorial viewtopic.php?f=110&t=881
however, the part that is Very confusing is the following paragraph:
"Click tools->Direct Drive Dump (GDR Only). Click the eject button and insert your dvd movie or xbox 360 game and then click close. Give the drive a few seconds to spin up. Then, if you have a v59 or lower, click Classic Raw Dump Firmware As, otherwise click RAW Dump Firmware As and then give the original firmware a name like hit-orig.bin or something similar and then choose a location to save it."
I have ver. 47dj now which one of the three do i do? 1) direct drive dump (gdr only) then eject (i'm guessing via the ck3 button) & insert og game & close (again via the ck3) OR 2) do i do the classic raw dump firmware OR the last option 3) raw dump firmware (essentially i'm thinking it's the same as #2 or am I wrong?)
please advise. thanks
