Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
I have been trying to flash my lite-on drive for the last few days with no luck. I have read all the tuts and tried the windows jungleflash method and watched the video tut by cofree and tried that as well. I have a PCI VIA 6421 SATA card(tried with and without the drivers),using windows xp.I bought the CK3 Lite and the CK3 probe. Now this is what happens...I get the drive to be recognized but when I get to the probe R707 and hit yes to get the dump in Jungleflasher it gives me an hour glass like it's working but no matter how long I hold the probe it never gives me the key. I have done the cycle and drive try half open routine and all appears to be right. When I try it using cofree's method it says "invalid key" and goes back to c prompt. I am a noob at this but feel like with all I've read that it's something that shouldn't be that difficult. Wondering if my com port (1) is working right or recognized. I did install the portio32 drivers but I see only one choice in com ports to choose from(com port 1)but in jungleflasher i see the lite-on drive listed under the I/O device but under the com port it says com port 1 and the status is "not available". Also note that when I do probe the R707 I do get a bright green lite so I am fairly certain I am getting a good connection there. Both the CK3 and the probe both have the blue lites indicating power. Anyone else have similar issues and if so what to do to correct would be greatly appreciated. If no body with similar issues, any ideas to help resolve also would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
well stop using jungle and start using iprep8.8
if you are getting green then it is making good contact.
when you build your iprep flash make sure your com1 is in the drop down.
make sure the via 6421 driver are installed.
and that you via card is in the drop down for controller.
you will have the com cable the sata cable and the power all hooked up at the same time.
after you open the dvd drive and power off
close the drive half way.
power back on put your probe in the hole and do the next step
and see what happens

Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
I did use the IPrep 8.8 when I tried your video tut. I guess there are steps to take to "build" it as you say before actually doing what you did in the video. In the vid you already soldered the R707 points....I guess I am not sure what to do before you get to that point sisnce I am probing. Any tuts I can look at....I've seen so many of them now but not sure which one is the best for my situation.
Thanks

Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
if you are using a probe you dont need to solder anything.
iprpe
input your lite-on 1.5 firmware
make sure your via controller is in the drop down
make sure your com port is in the drop down
put in your usb flash and put it in the drop down
put a check in format/make bootable
check in include batch
then click start
then boot on the flash
and have all the other sata drives in your computer unhooked
do what it tells you on the screen

Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
I tried the drive tray in every conceivable position with no luck. A little history on this 360....apparently this console experienced the rrod and was sent into ms for repair which is probly how the lite-on got in there. I noticed that when I took the box apart the void sticker didn't seem to be stuck real good(I take them off with heat gun to prevent voiding them)like maybe it was off b4. I wonder if this had been flashed b4 and I didn't notice. I can't remember if I checked to see if it played backups....seems like I did but if it was flashed b4 and I didn't take notice would this cause the problem? Or if flashed back to original firmware. Just can't figure out why it gives me the "invalid key" error. Guess I should try this on another 360 to see if I get same results? Let me know what you think.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
Seems it might be something to do with the com port going by your first post,Can you do a loop-back test to check that the port is working.
open "All programs">"Accessories">"Communications">"Hyperterminal". Then open a new connection, give it any name (ie, test), and use the following settings:
Country/Region: Anything (ie. United Kingdom)
Area code: Anything (ie. 44)
Phone number: leave blank
Connect using: Which ever COM port you plugged your cable into
Then next use the following COM port settings:
Bits per second: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None
Then "Apply" and "OK"
Then just type anything, then it should come up in the hyperterminal window if you have a good connection.

Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
cofree....when you say my "setup" are you referring to my pc setup or the way i am setting up iprep? is there a way i can tell if my com port is actually working and transferring data. i am thinking about going out and buying a brand new 360 just to see if this does the same thing on a known fresh drive? any thoughts? also...i put the console back together just to be sure it was still reading orignal disks and it does, no problems but it does not read backups. so still perplexed as to why it gives me "invalid key" error when trying to extract key.
thanks

Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
Yeah, like kryptic says, check your com ports. If your not getting a connection to the device, then you won't be able to get your three files.

Re: Lite-On flashing problem...PLEASE HELP!!
just wanted to let you all know.....SUCCESS!!!!!....I figured it out and don't know why I didn't try this before. I bought the probe for the CK3 Lite and thought I would try it without the probe. I soldered the R707 pad and when I turned CK3 on,ejected the tray and powered off , put tray half in,powered on and hit yes enter....it read it straight away with no problems.erased, flashed and wrote and was done in no time. Tested and it even works. So from now on I won't assume just because something is new that it wouldn't be defective....bad probe=no key extraction!!! Again I appreciate all your help!!
