So I've done over 50 360s now and last night had 5 come in.

The BenQs and Hitachi went fine and so did the Arcade Lite-On. The Elite Lite-On a different story. The flash looked good in iPrep so I reassembled it and sent it on its way. Late last night I got a call saying when you put in a game it was coming up Please put this disc in a 360 dvd drive or whatever. I double checked all the firmwares and everything looked fine.
I use JF .43 or whatever the latest version is, the one that checks the key 6 times to ensure a good dump. Just got the elite back this morning and sure enough it had the problem where it only played movies. So, I reflashed the same .bin I still had on my USB stick for it and it played games after that. There is however one concern I have.
I have never experienced a bad flash like this before but it is quite possible I accidentally flashed the wrong cfw to the drive since I had 5 360s about and 2 lite-on firmwares on the usb stick.. although I believe I was pretty careful about the whole thing. Anyways, the concern is this. If you've ever had a Lite-On on its back with the faceplate off and you go to close the drive it will often times make a screeching sound because the drive isn't sitting normally because it is on its back. With the drive plate back on and in the 360 to test, it still makes the sound whenever you close the dvd drive (akin to what happens when it's on its back but not so loud).
I've never had an issue with a lite-on until now. How many of you have experienced something like this?

Re: First Lite-On Drive Problem
Yeah same here. But now it continues to do that process where it makes that sound every time you close the dvd tray without a disc in it just like it does in the flashing process. Very weird.CoFree wrote:never

take it back apart some thing is not right in there man

Re: First Lite-On Drive Problem
I did this morning when the guy brought it back. I took the back faceplate off and looked inside but it all seemed normal to me. I won't be seeing that 360 again I don't think so can't look into it further.CoFree wrote:take it back apart some thing is not right in there man

Re: First Lite-On Drive Problem
I think it would be possible to have flashed the wrong firmware the first time around. Albeit a little tricky, but possible.
The loud noise is cause by the magnet that sits on top of the disk when it's inside the drive. It's off track just a little and when there isn't any disk in the drive, it makes that loud vibrating noise. When you take the top off to flash it, check that when you put the top back on it.
