Can anyone give me a estimate of Lite-on %?

Post by omgyeswai »

Yea I'm buying a 360 next week and I want to know if someone can estimate the chance that I will get a lite-on. Because that is the last drive that I want. I have already bought the VIA SATA card.

I could be wrong, but I think that all new 360s come with the lite-on now.

I haven't heard of anyone getting anything else in a new 360 for months now.

Why do you not want a Lite-on drive?

They are the latest drive model in the 360 and have the latest Ixtreme 1.5 firmware available for them.
They can also be flashed now using a Via sata card.
If you lock up the drive using Jungle flasher, Cofree has a great video tutorial on how to recover it in the tutorial section.

Order yourself a ck3 kit and a probe and you should be fine just make sure that you save your drive info (key, inquiry, and identify) before you try to flash. Then if anything goes wrong you should be able to recover.

I don't want a Lite-on because of the extra stuff that you have to buy.

OK, I see what you mean.

You are going to need a CK3 kit anyway but if you get a Liteon drive then you will also need the probe or spear. The only way to avoid this is if you can solder. But you would have to be good because the solder point is really small.

Another option would be to buy a used console. But personally I would rather buy the probe as I would not like to buy a used console. But I would be really suprised if you bought a new console now and it was not a Liteon drive.

This website has a modding service, it might be worth your while checking it out.

I will need a CK3 anyway? May I ask what for? I will just use the 360 to power the DVD drive. Or is there some other reason I would need a CK3?

The ck3 kit will connect the drive up to your Via card. It is the link between your 360 drive and your PC.

you will need the sata hooked up.
that is what the flash goes in on.
you use the cke to get the info from the dvd drive.
it comes out a rs232 com cable or a usb cable that hook to the ck3.
for the liteon you need one

Oh yea I know I would need it for the Lite-on. But if I get like a Benq drvive then I will not need a CK3 correct?(sorry for all the questions.) Here is the site I check for lot # http://www.360drives.com/list" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; So by going through that site I will bother the sells clerk asking them to check the lot # for me until they find a non Lite-on drive.

i've flashed a benq drive before and prior to the flash you have to set the drive up where the tray is open a bit. from my understanding if you use the 360 to power the drive when you power down the drive tray closes. . . and there's a couple of steps that require a power down so you're going to need the CK3, and this is using iPrep. i'm not sure about jungleflasher

prior to the flash you have to set the drive up where the tray is open a bit.
Not entirely true, Yes if you want to use the Magic28 command this will have to be done, but as for not using a CK, you can do the 2 second trick where you send the command to the drive while turning it off quickly after hitting Yes, and wait till the status changes and then turn on and your benq drive will be in vendor mode.
