Sata controller port
Sata controller port
Could someone give me a little help. How do I choose the correct sata port. Mine says A$404t4B IDE controller and then I have two options of nvidia nforce serial ATA controller and M$ ISCSI initiator and then i can switch to IDE based controller. On my board I have 4 sata ports
Re: Sata controller port
First do you have the VIA 6421A(L) card? If not what's your mobo chipset? Last what drive are you trying to flash?

Re: Sata controller port
on iprep that is for the lite-on
Re: Sata controller port
nvidia nforce 430
Re: Sata controller port
Well generally speaking you wont need a specific chipset or card to flash the lite-on. What you will need is:
iPrep (which you apparently have)
An open sata port (again you have) nForce 430 is a good board too.
Something to power your drive whether it be your 360 or a connectivity kit.
If you're going to use your 360 make sure that you connect the 360's case to the pc case to ensure that they share the same ground.
Some form of flash memory to boot from.
Any more questions?

Re: Sata controller port
Yeah in ref. to above which option do i choose in iprep under sata controller?
Re: Sata controller port
The best way I know how is by process of elimination. When you right-click properties on all currently available drives in My Computer (assuming your running windows) and then the Hardware tab, near the middle it says location and then 0(0) or 0(1). This will show which location is assigned to which piece of hardware in your pc. Then you can select the one under iPrep that isn't listed in the Properties tab. One more thing is to make sure that your sata ports in BIOS are set to legacy. You'll have to dig around in there to find it but verify that as well.

Re: Sata controller port
You would choose this one as your controller 'nvidia nforce serial ATA controller'. The others are IDE controllers. Hopefully its an on-board port that will work.
Re: Sata controller port
with mine set to legacy sata mode, my sata ports show up as Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE controller...

And if at first you don't succeed..? Order the damn card!
