My problem began when my nephew's Xbox 360 DVD failed. I am an IT person and have only soft-modded an old Xbox ver 1.6 so that should give you some idea what page I am on. My sister made the initial mistake of ordering a Toshiba Samsung and I completely overlooked it as well. The original is a BenQ DVD which I still have. So as many of you can guess, I need to convince his Xbox 360 that the DVD drive belongs there. I need a nice tutorial on how to get the job done. So I am asking nicely, to put your thinking caps on and tell me what you know.
Thanks a Bunch,
KBB

Re: Help spoofing DVD key from Ben Q to Tosh-Sam
Firstly, you can look over this..
viewtopic.php?f=197&t=881
But that's not for BenQ to Sammy, so I will help you out on this, all you need to do is dump the Firmware from the BenQ drive, open it in Firmware toolbox, Copy KEY, open up Samsung iXtreme firmware paste in key, then click save, next go to top hit tools, then spoof firmware. After that it should display in FW Toolxbox that it is spoofed to BenQ VAD6038. Once your done, make the iPrep USB Flash, and rename the "spoofed FW" to SAMCFW.BIN and place it in BACKUPS > XXXXXXX > XXXXX, with X being digits of your serial number.
When in iPrep just to a FSAM XXXXXXX XXXXX, and make sure you have a copy of that Original Firmware someplace safe.

yep
that is it.
if you have any more questions just post man.
spoof a dvd drive can be a little confusing some times.
on getting the drive key from your benq.have a read over this.Just the part that talks about the benq
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =197&t=662" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
there is also info in there about the samsung.
The latest iprep is v8.8
That is what i would us for all this.
To pull this off you will need to understand
how to dump a benq
how to pull the key from the benq orig firmware
how to input the orig key into the hacked samsung firmware.
how to spoof the samsung firmware to report as a benq.
how to flash a samsung dvd drive. after renaming the firmware.
you can look over the videos i made on flashing a benq but only use the part up to the dump.after firmtool runs you would power down because that is all you need .
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... 195&t=3557" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
then watch the samsung video on flash but
just use the flashing part.you will not be doing any dumping of the samsung.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... 195&t=3558" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
if the benq is not working completely hopefully you will be able to get a firmware dump.
the tray not opening and things like that dont mater.
All you need is the flash chip to power up and dump the firmware.
This is going to take some time
so dont get in a hurry
but with the files and keyfrom the benq
we can get this going.
what is happening
is the console is looking for the orig key and the orig dvd drive.
so
what we have to do is make the console thing that the replacement dvd drive is the orig,by spoofing the firmware.
and
we have to have the orig key.with out that the console will only play dvd movies no games of any kind.
that is it.
if you have any more questions just post man.

Thanks again, I will get back with you this weekend. I have to work on some paid gigs or my bills to Prince John will go unpaid.
I have the forum bookmarked and I really dig your theme.

Re: Help spoofing DVD key from Ben Q to Tosh-Sam
Just wanted to let you know the nephews spoofed Xbox 360 seems to be working 100%. Thank you.
For clarification, I wanted to repeat what all was done in the process beginning to end.
Using Xbins I got the following and unarchived them to a folder named Xbox 360:
360FW-Toolbox-48.rar Located in: /XBOX 360/firmware/firmware tools/Firmware Toolbox/
iPrep_v008.8.rar Located in: /XBOX 360/firmware/firmware tools/iPrep 101/
I followed the BenQ video posted by CoFree which isn't too much different from the Sammy video. I loaded all 3 firmware bins from that point even though I knew I would not use the liteon DVD. After formatting the 128MB USB stick. I shut my system down and got the drive ready. I used the Xbox to power the drive so I attached a ground wire from the PC case to the Xbox case. I then dumped the BenQ on to my USB stick. I rebooted again back on to the Master HD inside the PC and ran Firmware Toolbox. Accessing my USB on I:\BACKUPS I found the BenQ firmware and copied the key. Then opening the SamCFW.bin added the key and spoofed the firmware selecting the BenQ and model number from that list. Rebooted once more back on the USB and flashed the Tosh-Samsung DVD.
After reassembling the Xbox I popped in Gears of War and the disk started playing. Thanks again guys, I will try my best to balance my karma by helping out where I can.
