So I've got the Kreon v1.0 drive now...

Post by HeartBraden »

And I'm using XBC 2.7, however, when I put an original game into the drive, and boot up XBC, the start button is greyed. Also, in Drive Tools, Unlock Drive is greyed out as well... any suggestions?

if you got just xbc v2.7 it don't come with a installer it was just a update you need to get v2.5 and install it then v2.7 should work.

That's what I did... I've used 2.5 for awhile, just burning games, but then I got my Kreon and downloaded 2.7 and put the .exe in the installation directory.

I uninstalled and reinstalled v2.5. Then I updated to 2.7. I put the original 360 disc in the Kreon drive and it shows up in My Computer as "XBOX360 (I:)", I boot up XBC v2.7, select " TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D162C TS05", wait for it to read it, and the start button remains unlit. So does the "unlock drive" button under the "drive tools" tab. Anything I'm doing wrong?

Okay, I did exactly that. The only thing I noticed that was different was that when I put my disc in the drive, it already appeared as it were 7.05 GB, and the unlock drive button was not lit up. The start button is still grayed.

Here's what is says at the bottom:

do you have any copy right breakers running like anydvd or something like that.if so disable them.

Also try this download schrom360 xtract v3.4 dump program and give it a try to see what it does.

Okay, I just tried the Schtrom360Xtract V3.4 and clicked Extract, and it said this:

"Can't get feature list from drive! It is a kreon compatible drive, but don't seem to be flashed with the right firmware! Drive is used as a normal DVD-ROM!"

Which is strange, because I ordered it from a place that said it was definately Kreon v1.0, and XBC said that it had Kreon v1.0...
Now what?

if you read in the small text box at the bottom and it says that the sh-d162c drive has kreon v1.00.
then it has the right firmware in it.
there must be a setting wrong.

some people said that they had trouble if it was not set as a master.

Yeah, those drives are really easy to do. The firmware comes with a windows flasher, pretty simple really.

Okay, I've tried downloading the firmware manually, and installing it, but it says that my drive is not supported, even though it's the exact same drive as everyone else uses... (I got it here: http://www.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1392920) I also checked, and is set to master... I don't know why it isn't working.

What is the drive being identified as? Are you sure that it's a sh-d162c and not a sh-d163b? Both drives should work, just one is sata and the other is IDE. If you can, take a pic of the label on the drive and a screenshot of xbox backup creator just after you've opened it and where is shows the drives that you have and post them up to where we can see them.
