flash liteon drive by using Iprep
flash liteon drive by using Iprep
i just reviewed alot of post sound like if i use Iprep or modify kit CD to flash my Liteon drive, i have to use Serial port? my concern is my computer doesn't have individual Serial port~~ only has USB~~~and i bought this kind of CK chipset http://kreon.offerdahl.org/keygrabber.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, So that means i cannot flash my computer with using the USB drive except i use JF? right now my firmware is 1.50, i want to upgrate 1.51

Yes you must use the serial port when using iPrep or the mod cd because DOS doesn't have drivers for the USB on the Connectivity kit. For that we'd all have to flash our own mobo's BIOS. Not something you want to do lightly.
Secondly, iPrep isn't working well with iXtreme 1.51, I'm positive it will given enough patience but for now you can try the mod cd, but honestly a lot of us here haven't used it to any extent.
Last but not least, you can go directly from 1.5 to 1.51 on the lite-on's. This hasn't caused a problem yet. Though you will have to use JF, preferably with the VIA 6421A or L card. Which if you don't already own one, they can be pick up all around the internet. Check out this link for a small group of retailers that we use regularly, they are also rated.
Any thing else just post up!!

Re: flash liteon drive by using Iprep
With that connectivity kit, you won't be able to use iprep exclusively. Iprep is DOS only. Here is what you can do to get the job done. Use jungleflasher to dump the key, identify, and inquiry.bin files used to make your dummy.bin. Then create your hacked firmware. At that point, you no longer need a serial connection. Then you just need to rename your custom firmware than jungleflasher made to litcfw.bin because this is what jungleflasher looks for when it flashes a lite-on. Then use iprep to create a bootable flash drive. In the backups folder of that flash drive create a folder called 1234567 and inside that folder create another folder called 12345. Then put a copy of litcfw.bin in there. Then boot to the flash drive and use the flit command to flash the drive.

Re: flash liteon drive by using Iprep
Thanks sadalius, So if i already have 1.5 F/W in my liteon drive, and i got all the dummy.bin everything....do i have to reflash it again? or i just plug in my SATA Cable to my computer and use Iprep, and no need to worry about serials port. by the way, if i use MOD CD?
Re: flash liteon drive by using Iprep
at this point you need to use jungle flasher
iprep is having a hard time dumping the 1.5 and building the hack 1.51
you can use jungle flasher to build you new v1.51 than put it on a iprep boot flash and flash it in.
that does work fine.

Re: flash liteon drive by using Iprep
Thanks cofree, so u mean i have to reflash my drive using jungle flasher, 1, open load source firmware, load my dummy.binCoFree wrote:at this point you need to use jungle flasher

2, open target firmware which 1.51 , then sproof target, and save the file which call Lite_CFW. and change the name liteCFW.bin 3, then i use iprep LOAD the firmware target is \Firmware\LitCFW.bin is this correct?

Re: flash liteon drive by using Iprep
Technically your not using jungleflasher to reflash your drive your just using it to build the liteon cfw. After its created it you would rename it to litcfw.bin and transfer it to the backup/1234567/12345 folder of your iprep usb then boot from it and use the flit command.
