Potentially you might be able to flash it with a hacked fw. Here's some of the problems though.
1. You must have the key from the original drive you want to replace.
2. You will probably never get the original fw from the Hit drive.
3. It may not work at all, sorry that's just how it goes sometimes.

If you have the key from the 360 drive you're trying to replace, then you should be able to spoof that into the Hacked fw to flash on to your "new" drive. You must do hitachi's in windows as there is no dos support, except for maybe the mod cd which not a lot of us on here have any experience with that disc. So iPrep is out of the question. Jungle Flasher 1.5.1 should work but is still kind of buggy so be careful. Plus there's always the Firmware toolbox located in the download section of this site.

On the bottom side I believe there is a slide tab that will pop open the drive. It my still spin and read the disc. It's worth a shot.

I can see that every part has been taken from a broken console and put into 1 shell even thought i bought this as spares or repair will paypal buyer protection cover me? It was sold as spares or repair/faulty but it is not as described becasue none of it can be repaired and the seller said that it had red lighted and he had tried to fix but failed this is not the case at all. all parts are broken and are beyond repair.

any idea if im covered???

I do not believe you will be covered... Contact the seller first, see what he says (I am willing to bet he will say something along the lines 'too bad' seeing that he clearly lied while describing the item).

After contacting the seller, I would contact eBay, they may cover you somewhat...

You should always be careful when buying broken xbox's online. Read the auction clearly, try to only buy the ones that say "never been opened" then you know if you get it and the drive is bricked its clearly been opened and a bad flash has been done on it.

PS make sure to leave negative feedback explaining the problem. I know with me unless the person has 100% feedback I read their negatives.
