Random Drive Swapping Question

Post by jbustin »

Hello,
Random question. I have two xbox 360s, both hitachi 49 drives, one has original firmware and one has been flashed. The one drive with original firmware is busted but the system itself is fine. The one with CFW, the drive works but the 360 is dead (1 rrod, that i cannot seem to fix). Can I just go ahead and put the flashed drive in the other xbox no problem, or do I need to restore and reflash the cfw drive.
The reason I ask is, I went ahead and popped the cfw drive into the other 360. It booted up no problem but when i put in a backed up game dvd. It said "cannot read disc".
The main question i have is, Since i flashed the drive already but the other xbox doesn't seem to recognize it, can I just go ahead and reflash the drive or do I have to restore it first ( so i don't flash over a flashed drive) and then reflash it. I'd hate to ruin a perfectly good drive on something dumb.
Thanks,

Here's how it plays out.
Busted Xbox = Good drive Correct?
Bad Drive = Good Xbox?

If this is the case as I believe it is, then you'll need the drive key from the busted drive because that'll have to be the key that you flash onto the good drive to insert into your good xbox. Understand?

I would flash the OFW with the busted drive key to the good drive. Then re-flash the good drive with the CFW as normal. Cool. If you have any more questions or just didn't understand what I was trying to say, just post up again.

Technoe,
Strange complication i ran into. I cant dump the bad drive. Firmware Toolbox says " YOu need to insert an original disc and let it sit for at least 30 seconds". The problem with the drive is i cannot get it to spin up correctly. The drive spins but won't read, it is strange. SO it never recognizes the disc. I cannot dump the original firmware. Is there another way to extract the key? Sorry for all the ridiculousness.
