Hit 59 disc drive Won't spin up

Post by jbustin »

Hello,
I apologize but this is a tricky one.
Drive1= Working motor parts but bricked.
Drive 2=Working drive, won't read discs or spin

I have a bricked hit 59 drive that was working fine, this is drive 1. I happen to also have another hit 59 drive that will not spin, this is drive 2. Both drives are the same. Drive 1 was working till i tried to restore and reflash it. Drive 2 i got from a friend because it won't spin. The PCB is fine and still has OFW, but won't even atempt to read a disc. I used the TUT on this site (cause RHPG is where i get all my info) to see if it was just a stuck spindle. But it wasen't. The laser works fine just wont spin. SO, i took the PBC out of Drive 2 and put it into Drive 1 (which i know the spindle works) and it boots up perfectly. But when u go to read a disc, it is back to the same brokeness.
Could the PBC on drive 2 be broken? Drive 1s motor parts all work fine, until i bricked it ( in which wont move at all). But with the drive 2 PCB moves like nothing happened.
Is there any solution to this or is the drive just scrap now? ANy help would be great.
One side note. i dont think i need to spoof anything cause im using the PCB of the drive in the same system it was originally from.

a little hard to follow there man. :?

take the pcb from the dvd drive that wont spin and put it in the dvd drive
that will spin(this should be the bricked pcb)

then it should work in the console that the working pcb came from.
if you are going to put this in the console that the brick pcb was in
then you are going to have to flash everything in the drive.
key sector
and the hacked firmware.

Hey Cofree,

Thanks again for the speedy reply. I apologize for the confusing description, it's tricky to explain through type. I took the pcb from drive the that doesnt spin and put it into the bricked drive (which spins fine), then put the drive back into the 360 that the drive originally came from. I assumed originally the drive didnt spin cause it was a burned motor or something but now i wonder if it has to do with the pcb? Have you ever heard of a pcb going bad or is that a rare case/impossibility. When a drive is flashed, is it only the pcb being flashed or does it involve any sectors on the motherboard. Also do you think it could be something to do with the power supply from the mother board to the drive? The new pcb drive isn't flashed, do you think that would help?

well the pcb is the brains of the drive
so if something to do with the moptor is not working
then yea it wont work.

The hit drives dont do a thing when they are bricked no eject no nothing.

If you got the drive from someone else and you have never seen it working, then you have prob been ripped off, same happened to me only I had bought the console too..........ouch
