Flashing a BenQ

Post by revjackson »

I have a BenQ drive that has been previously flashed, ixtreme 1.4 or 1.5. I am now trying to upgrade to 1.51 using iprep v008 8 on a INTEL(R) ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R SATA RAID chipeset on a Vista64 machine. I have successfully make the USB boot drive and got everything hooked up. If the 360 drive is on when the PC is booted the 360 drive is visible from the boot menu, so I know that the PC can "see" it. Once I get into the dos program, I enter the dBen xxxxxxx xxxxx command and it then tells me to turn on the 360 and hit any key. Once I hit any key it gives the error, "benOFW.bin not present" and will not do anything else. I have a friend with the SAME exact PC (only difference is RAID has been disabled) and he successfully flashed a Samsung drive with his. Dont know if I need to disable RAID to get mine to work or if there is another problem. Any help is gratly appreciated.

benofw.bin not present has nothing to do with your raid setup....did you update the iprep definitions correctly? Check that again...holla back

yes all definitions are current, otherwise it wouldnt have let me make the bootable USB. I remembered one more thing, in the error it also says "no ATAPI devices present".

I have not flashed with this PC before, but... As I had said in my initial post, my friend (with the same exact PC, running vista64 but with RAID disabled) flashed a samsung drive with his machine using iprep.

OK. So, what would be the best way to go about flashing a previously flashed benq drive using INTEL(R) ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R SATA RAID chipeset on a Vista64 machine? Just try dosflash instead of iprep? mtkflash? Thanks so much for the timely replies!

I haven't done any extensive testing on a 64 bit os. iprep would not work for me using windows 7 beta 64x. I could get jungleflasher to run, but I would not use it because I could not install portio32 nor did it recognize that .net was installed. Your best bet if you don't have a 32 bit os avaiable is to try the 360 mod disk. You just have to know what port your drive is on to have it work.

Thanks for all the help. I will check into using the 360 mod disk and post back here with results.

So, tried the 360 mod disk, but had no luck. Ended up turning off RAID in bios and iprep worked flawlessly.
