Hi! My name is Luis and I've been using CoFree's excellent video tutorials to mod 360's for awhile now. (Thanks for those awesome vids btw) The first 360 I ever modded was my own BenQ back in April 2008 with Ixtreme v1.41.. however at the time I was silly and deleted everything on my flash drive.. including my original firmware -_-;
Do I need the original firmware to update my drive to v1.51 or can I proceed just as I did the first time and just extract the key from the custom firmware present in the drive now since that contains the original key? Also, what steps can I take to somehow get a copy of the original key for future use in case my dvd drive craps out on me?
thanks for your time and excellent forum ^_^/
Updating BenQ using IPrep v008 without original firmware
Re: Updating BenQ using IPrep v008 without original firmware
just flash your drive
just like the first time
do it like it has never been flashed before.
this time after you dump and firmtool should run
boot back in windows and save a copy of your backup folder.
then boot back on the flash and
do the flash command.
im sure you know,but you are pushing your luck not have a backup of your info that is in that backup folder.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply!
Yea, after I deleted it and did some further reading I realized how horrible of a mistake that was haha.
Unfortunately the guide I used failed to even mention backing up the original firmware -_-;
Now I know better. =)
Thanks again.
