No magic28 prompt!

Post by BelgianRofl »

Hello helpful people!

After dBen XXXXXXX-XXXXX it says to you want to keep trying (orsomething)... yaya all good. I say yes (the sata port is correct, its the only one plugged in) but nothing happens from there, it gets stuck. After it it reads no identify possible! It reads (while stuck [esc] to abort!when i push esc, it asks me to enter the number of the sata port. i say 6 because it is the only one, then this screen comes up: [r] to read; [w] to write; [e] to erase; [liteon k] get liteon k dvd key; and [liteon e] erase lite on flash. In short, once ive chosen my drive, it doesnt prompt me to use the magic28 software.

I dont know what I did wrong, I have the suggested sata card from tekgems, any suggestions?

Magic command is not needed nor will be presented for every drive as some just seem to go with the flow. magic unlock happens prior to choosing a port .

Sometimes you have to dben or fben again if the drive is not seen.

How in detail is your computer set up?

Im not sure what you mean by my computer setup. Im powering the xbox through the power cable which is connected to my sata connect card, all other sata cables have been unplugged, packed the flash with windows vista 32-bit. Should I click erase drive? I forgot to mention before write and read didnt work, it gave me error and started me back at C:\ and i was to scared to try erase... incase it worked..

Ah I see what you are saying now.. that was dumb of me. thanks for the help. I guess the problem now is that I cant read the drive (something)OFW.bin not found in red lettering. back to C:\

Since I didnt use the magic28, could it be because my drive is not halfway open?

ok the the exact error message when i try to read it is:
unknown flash chip!
File not found - BenOFW.bin

So I know what were talking about please clarify if I am not correct

Your using a connectivity kit to power your drive with the power sata correct?
You have a sata data running off your via chipset and your trying to use iPrep to flash
If so at the dos screen eject the drive, power off drive, push drive in slightly more than half, turn drive back on.

run dbenxxxxxxx xxxxx

hit me back with what happened I 'll do my best to get you through it

you can't leave the drive half open to use germania's method if your drive is powered by the xbox360 itself.

try again with iprep

if it can see the drive try to read it, if you can't run dben again, if still not readable your chipset is not setup properly, not the proper chipset, or your chipset might be broken

when i pack the flash drive i get the message: Windows- drive not ready

Exception processing message 0xc0000a3 Parameters and a lot more numbers and letters.

options: cancel; try again; continue

Would this produce and the error? as for reading it, i opened it in with my normal OS and there were files there which looked like the right ones. it has to be the right chipset, its benq drive + recommended controller. how would i know if it isnt installed right vs. broken/ how to re-install?

thanks for all the help so far!

Vista could be your problem...everyone I know including me use XP for flashing, Iprep works on XP but some do get it to work with vista. Sorry I missed that before.

If using a 360 to power the drive this method can be tricky to accomplish.
You need to power on the drive with Eject status closed but Tray Half Open –To do this using
an Xbox 360 as Power source, eject the DVD drive, then, press eject to ‘close’ the tray. Now this
is the important part –you MUST remove the DVD power plug from the DVD Drive BEFORE it
closes fully.
Wait for a few seconds and replace the power plug into the DVD drive taking extreme caution
to plug the plug the right way around –once done, the drive is now powered, console thinks its
closed but it is in fact half open.

you can find that and more info in this small guide.
