LiteOn drive won't eject
LiteOn drive won't eject
Hi there. First off, I love the site. Very good support and concise tutorials. Here's my problem: (I think I maybe be up the creek here)
I have a LiteOn drive from my 360 which I'm trying to flash using the CK3 PRO and Probe off a SATA Controller Card.I followed the steps in the tutorial for JungleFlasher v0.1.55 Beta with iXtreme 1.51-Final. I got as far as making the Dummy .bin and Lite_CFW .bin files with the Identify, Inquiry, and Key .bin files. Once it came to the Write stage, my computer locked up. Now JungleFlasher and iPrep v008.8 won't detect my 360s drive. I even have to open the drive manually because the eject button on the CK3 does not work. I also tried ejecting the drive from the XBOX 360 and all I get is a blinking red light on the console and it won't go past the XBOX360 screen on the television. I've tried using DOSFlash32 v1.7 in windows with no luck, eject still wont work with the CK3 or back in the XBOX. I've seen your tutorial on making a bootable USB DOS flash drive, but my computer BIOS does not support booting from a USB drive. I've been searching tirelessly for about three weeks to see if I can maybe update my BIOS, but I haven't had any luck so far. I figured I would post in search for answers while still searching. Is there anything I can do?
*Edit*
I am running Windows XP

Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
Create a bootable usb stick with all nec information on it and take your stick and box to a buddy's house. Your gonna need dosflash no matter what. As previously stated, Cofree has done the heavy lifting already for us just follow the tut and you should be good to go.

Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
first i don't recommend forcing any drives open when they lock up on you cause you might damage it physically and then realize that you can rescue it. . . second, you need to get ya hands on a pc where you'll be able to complete the method that strykr355 posted up. . . that's really all you can try for now.
Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
from my understanding, the bootable flash drive he makes has to be used on the computer he made it on.Shootsteel wrote:Create a bootable usb stick with all nec information on it and take your stick and box to a buddy's house. Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
What if I use an internal hard drive to boot with DOS instead of the USB flash drive. Would that be the same feasible? Would that be the same thing as booting from a USB flash drive?
Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
not too sure bout that one and from what i've noticed if the drive is to big iPrep won't format it.
Re: LiteOn drive won't eject

Hmmm...seems I have done it before...gonna go check that in a couple of min. I am prob wrong though...hate getting older...eyes go....memory goes...what next!from my understanding, the bootable flash drive he makes has to be used on the computer he made it on.

Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
You can use an internal hard drive. Just make sure it's one that you don't care to format and you'll have to put DOS on it, or make it to where you can boot to dos with it. Then you'll have to get your iprep files on it as well. The machine I use to flash drives with is setup this way with a single hard drive. I use an OS manager to choose between DOS and Windows XP. When I setup iprep, I just selected the hard drive and let it create the files. Then I created a folder on the DOS partition called iprep and moved the files in there. In my autoexec.bat file, I put the command to load my PCI serial card and also a line to cd iprep so it puts me to the directory and has everything ready to go when I get to dos.

Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
i've never tried it but we'll see in a few minutes, makes sense why it wouldn't work though. when you create the boot it's reading the ports from your sata card or motherboard. it won't be able to find the port when you do l-o-eras.exe or when you try to dump/flash. . .
Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
Thanks guys I'm going to try this right after my last exam. I will get back to you all on this one.

uses the main(or fisrt port) for flashing
the port id needs to be the same or it will bug out iprep and it will not see the drive because it will be looking for a different port
that is for a normal dump/flash
now doing the recover
hmmm
in dosflsh it list all ports and you tell it which port to use
it may work
but
back on point
If your pc wont boot on a usb flash then it will have a floppy.I've seen your tutorial on making a bootable USB DOS flash drive, but my computer BIOS does not support booting from a USB drive.
you can do the recover from that
Re: LiteOn drive won't eject
If you are worried about the iprep formatting your drive to only boot from the computer it was created on, then don't use it. Instead, use HP USB Disk Format Tool by following this guide here: http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Once you are done formatting it you need to download dosflash 1.7 (here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=671029" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) extract it, and take the two files located in the dosflash16 folder (dosflash.exe and dosflash.typ) and put them in the root of the usb drive, along with the l-o-eras.exe file and of course your lite_cfw.bin file. You should be able to boot into this flash drive from any computer that allows booting from a usb device.

In theory, if I can boot from a floppy, then couldn't I boot from a CD/DVD as well? If so, are the steps that RDubbs007 stated above the same steps that I would take if burning and booting from a CD/DVD?RDubbs007
