Drive Not Seen On Via Vt6421a W Jungleflasher, Iprep, 360 Mo

Post by david_0161 »

Hello everyone,

I have a toshiba-samsung ms25 with iXtreme 1.4 and I am wanting to update to 1.51. I believe that it was spoofed to a ms28 when I followed textbooks tutorial. I previously modded this drive with a nforce chipset however I decided to buy a pci sata card for my own computer. I am using this card http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . When I try to use JungleFlasher I select the I/O for SATA primary master which shows my via 6421 card, however my drive doesn't show up. I have confirmed that portIO is installed and running correctly. I have tried using the via drivers and not using them. When trying to use iPrep same issue, drive can't be seen. I try new via drivers, old via drivers nothing seems to work. I have also tried Frosty's 360 mod disc, still won't find the drive. This is starting to get a little annoying. I bought this sata card, reading that it works with practically all drives and I can't even get it to see one sad.gif. I am using the only internal port on my sata card. I have searched google, these forums, everywhere. I have seen that people were able to figure it out but never posted their solution. Here is what is said about VIA chipsets in textbooks tutorial.

A common problem is detecting the drive with MTKFlash with VIA chipsets. For some reason, many people have this problem when using the external ports on the VIA SATA cards, or the “1” port if using internal. What seems to work best for most people is always using the primary “0” SATA port. On the PCI SATA cards, this is almost always an internal port. If there are multiple internal ports, use the port closest to the front of your PC. If you still can’t get the drive detected, you can try –pk-‘s suggestions.

I would try pk-s suggestions but the link is dead. sad.gif

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

For samsung drives with ixtreme 1.4 you would have to use the 0800 disk to unlock it prior to using junglelfasher or it won't show up. You should be able to use iprep though and the fact that you can't is kind of weird. Are you sure your VIA card only has one port? All of them have at least 2 ports whether it's a single internal port and one external or two internal ports. Check to make sure that the flashing program that your using isn't selecting the other port. Thats the most common problem is the wrong port being selected. But if you used the 0800 disk to unlock the drive first, then you could run jungleflasher and cycle through the entire port list and see where the drive shows up at.

I still use the 2 second trick to get Sammy's into vendor mode...

Click device intro, it will prompt you to click yes then turn the drive on and off (but I use nforce sata, don't know if this works with VIA). But the drive should be listed before you do this. Make sure you are using port 'CN 0' on the card.

Have you tried dosflash32?? I would say if it ain't broke, don't fix it and try it again with the nforce sata you flashed it on in the first place...

I have also followed the 0800 disk tutorial, putting in 360 drive waiting 30 seconds and then opening jungle flasher. I still have the same result, drive not found. My SATA card has two ports but only one internal.

Thanks to all that have replied, on top of having a bad SATA card it also seems I had a dumba$$ attack.

Well I got my new sata card today, different brand then before with an extra internal port....woohoo! Well anyway popped in the card installed drivers, uninstalled drivers and went for the Jungle Flasher method. Ran the activate.iso then loaded up JF. Drive came up as VAD with a status of 0x73 and in vendor mode. Shocked the piss outa me once I found out my drive was actually a BenQ lol. The first 360 I had was a Samsung and I had really researched before I flashed that one. The drive eventually died then the RROD to follow. I went out and bought an arcade and flashed same day. Must not have put much though into it the second time lol. For some reason I still had samsung in my head. JF went a breeze and have iXtreme 1.6 up and running. Thanks for the help!!
