Hitachi 79 Problem

Post by bmb1127 »

i recently purchased a hitachi 79 xbox 360 and bought a replacement drive for it so i could change them out. Replacement drive was hitachi 79 also. got a dump of both drives and keys. I tried changing the board from the hold to new.wouldn't read games. I used the tutorial on the website for changing out drives but i am not sure if that is for switching same drives or not? Anyway when i used the tutorial and moved key to new drive that didn't work wouldn't read games just said place into xbox 360 console. Any ideas or help would greatly be appreciated.

Well the hitachis can be a bit tricky. The easiest way I know to do this would be to load your OFW into jungle flasher, verify the key and flash that to the new drive. If you're using jungle flasher 0.1.55b then it would go something like this:

1. Open Jungle Flasher, click the Hitachi GDR3120 tab, and select the correct drive model radio button.

2. See if the new drive shows up in Windows, if it doesn't then you'll have to get the drive in Mode B. Just press the Mode B button in Jungle Flasher do not use the Mode B button on your CK, it may interfere with JF. Again verify to see if your drive shows up in the drop down list available.

3. Click "Restore Firmware" on the right and make sure that you've chosen either WinAPI if your VIA drivers are enabled or PortIO if your drivers are disabled. Now click Restore to Stock. JF may ask you to locate the OFW.

4. Once you've done all that JF should flash your drive with the OFW with appropriate key. You will then need to go through the process of flashing in the iXtreme firmware.
