The Kentucky Derby!!

So I've been a huge fan of the Kentucky Derby ever since I was a little kid. I went to my first Derby when I was about 10. Now 14 years later, I'm still as big a fan as ever and this year was no exception. The so-called fastest two minutes in racing was on one of the muddiest tracks in recent history. But that did nothing to deter previous KY Derby winning jockey Calvin Borel and his horse Mine That Bird from stretching their legs on the last 3/16 of the race to come from 14th to win Kentucky Derby number 135. Mine That Bird was driven by his trainer all the way from New Mexico just five days before the race and trained nearly every min on the beaten Churchill Downs track. Several hours before the race though Mine That Bird and his jockey were both napping, apparently really hard according to the owner. This is Calvin Borel's second derby win in three years. And one of the best parts of the whole race was Mine That Bird was given 50 to 1 odds. Which meant a two dollar bet paid out nearly 2,100 dollars. Not to mention the Mine That Bird cost the owners only 9500 dollars when they first purchased him. This is probably the single largest payout for an owner, with the the winnings of the Derby nearing 12 million dollars. Now that's an investment.
