Spoofing a Hit V78 to Benq
Spoofing a Hit V78 to Benq
I received a RROD Xbox that the kid took apart. I am not sure what he did, all the screws are missing. HA! So I was thinking about trying to spoof it, just to see how it works. Is there a tutorial floating around here? If not, I would like to try and make one if I can get this to work.

Here's a tutorial on spoofing a Hit into an old Samsung, it's basically the same for Benqs.

Man..Thanks for the fast reply.
I thought that this wouldn't be as complicated as it is.
It looks like it is going to take me a while to get this going.
Is there a way to do it through Jungle Flasher 1.55?

Re: Spoofing a Hit V78 to Benq
A nutshell explanation is that you dump the benq's firmware and then open it as the source. Then open the ixtreme firmware for the hitachi 78 as the target. Click spoof source to target and save the hacked firmware. Then use firmware toolbox to flash the newly spoofed firmware to your hitachi.

You mentioned something in one of the post, that if it was a certain version you have to solder something.
The one I have is a v 78FK.
Thanks

No soldering needed on the Hitachis. The only drive that we've ever done any soldering with was the lite-on, but with the Probe now that's become a thing of the past as well.

My 78 took me 5 mins total, theyre a breeze (as long as they havent been flashed prior to this)rkd2398 wrote:The one I have is a v 78FK.
sadalius has a video tutorial showing how to flash the 78, its in the tutorial section.
As sadalius said, you will need to dump the BenQ, save its FW. Then hook up the 78, then dump its FW, and save it. Then load the BenQ as source, and the 78 as target, click spoof source to target, then follow the rest of sadalius's tut.
Re: Spoofing a Hit V78 to Benq
Well I think its dead!! I got an error with Firmware Toolbox, so I said retry and it failed again. Now I can't get the drive to open or be recognized with either program, FWTB or JF. Any Ideas?

What is the error you get? If all else fails iPrep has a better chance of working.
Re: Spoofing a Hit V78 to Benq
I can't remember the error that I got, something in Firmware Toolbox. It told me that I needed to put a game or dvd in the drive, then click ok to continue. The it popped up an error and asked to retry, the an error three more times.
What is the process for IPrep and the Hitachi v78?
Thanks for all the help!!

Re: Spoofing a Hit V78 to Benq
iprep does not work on hitachi's, only samsung, benq and lite-on drives. Your drive may be stuck in mode b. I've never had a drive stuck in mode b, but I've heard of it. I don't know how to get it back out if it's stuck though. Maybe someone else has had the experience and can share what solved their issue with it.

Are you using your xbox to power the drive? If so when you turn it on does the green light in the middle flash constantly?
Re: Spoofing a Hit V78 to Benq
Nope using the CK3 Pro, the drive won't do anything, I push eject and it sits there. It has a game in it too.
