New LiteOn Revision - 83850c
Image
>> A forum post on a German website has the following information....
Here is a picture of the drive:

There appears to possibly be a new firmware/hardware revision for the LiteOn drive that was originally posted on these German forums. It is being discussed on our forums
here

So far, it is just speculation at this point. It appears the user is claiming the key's are coming back all 00's. We are unsure if it is user error, or a new protection. Any users with this revision please email iriez at xbins dot org with any information. If it truly is new protection, we will need to get our hands on it! Donors will be taken care of!

Hey guys

That was me who made that post.

http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =61&t=5988" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know that the HW version was A0A2 and I think that the date was April 2009 but I cant remember the fw version.

I will be able to check that out for you tomorrow.

I checked the serial data when I flashed the drive and the only thing wrong was the HW version which I changed in JF.

The guy on our forum was posting about the hardware version A0A2. He was able to get his keys, but it was harping that the serial data was missing. I've not seen one personally, but I've heard of a few of the A0A2's, but I'm not sure about the FW version on any of them.

Guys, I have flashed 2 of these drives last week when I made my original post which is linked above.

Both of the drives came back in repaired consoles from MS repair center in Germany, so I dont know if they are in consoles in retail stores yet.

The flashing went fine and both consoles are working perfectly. (I used a CK3 pro and a probe)

The only problem that I noticed was that JF reported the drive as A0A1 and NOT A0A2 when I checked the serial data.

I just changed it to A0A2 and compleated the flash without any problems.

OK I have contacted the people that I flashed these drives for and they kindly brought them over to me this morning.

I have opened them up to check them out and they do have the HW version A0A2 but the Fw Version is 74850C

The Manufacture date is March 2009 on one drive and April 2009 on the other.

It might be worth noting that I have a drive here with April 2009 with 74850C fw and the drive in your picture is March 2009 with a later fw. I do find that strange .

I really thought that they might have been these new drives as they only came back from the MS service center in Germany a few days ago. They are the new Hw revision but not the new Fw revision.

Maybe the new Fw revision has just been released in the US and has not hit Europe yet. who knows.

Anyway, sorry for the mix up guys. I am sure one of these drives will turn up sooner or later if they are out there.

I know many will dissagree with me, but To me it kinda looks photoshopped because on my lite-on that i was comparing this to the letters/numbers for the H/W and F/W version aren't that dark, unless it was fresh off the assembly line

Thats because the image was taken, then put on the persons comp, then they opened it in paint, blacked out the bottem of the label, and saved it as a jpg.

MS paint saves very low quality jpg's

Atleast thats my theory, but the person may have used a different application, but regardless what your seeing is because the jpg is low quality.
