Prototype update not working

I have a strange problem, when my 20 GB Harddrive is plugged in the game will load and tell me I need a update to play the game, when trying to apply the update it gives me the disc read error. But when I unplug the Harddrive it will load the game and works 100% every time.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? I am running iextreme 1.6. Every other game works find, I am not sure what is going on. The same game worked on my buddies same setup with no flaws. So I know its not the disc.

Try the clear cache procedure to clear any corrupted download data. Go into the memory section of the system menu. Highlight the HDD and press Y then press the L bumper, X,X,Y,Y and right bumper. Try that and see how things work.

I tried that and it still doesnt work. I also tried To make another from UFC . But again it works fine until it says you must perform an update. When I have my Harddrive plugged in and try the update it says disc cannot be read. Then I unplug the Harddrive and it will boot the game just fine. Anyone have any suggestions to what is going on?

I found the problem. I had to patch these games due to the fact my Hitachi is only 1.4 iextreme. So it must have messed with the dashboard update. So I downloaded the files via xbox.com and put them on cd, updated via cd and now everything works great. I really wished I could get my friggin hitachi to update but I cannot get jungleflasher to work with it. But oh well atleast I am good for now.
