Is it possible to build an Xbox 360 using parts from a bunch of old systems?

Yes but the vital part you need for it to work is the key that matches the motherboard so you can flash the key into the dvd drive for it to work with the motherboard, if you cant get the key off the motherboard then no you cannot make a xbox 360 out of spair pieces.
