For those of you having difficulties with hitachi drives....
Okay I just spend about 10 hours over the last 2 days trying to update the f/w on my hitachi drive. Here's a couple of things I discovered that may help some people out if you just can't figure out what you're doing wrong. First of all I was having trouble getting the drive flashed back to the original firmware with JungleFlasher. Check on some torrent sites and download the JF firmware pack, it contains the newest version of the iextreme firmware as well as the original firmwares for the hitachi drives. The iextreme firmware I got from xbins supposedly had the originals too, but they wouldnt work and the ones in the JF firmware pack did the trick. Second and most importantly, after flashing to the original firmware, I was getting various errors from JungleFlasher when trying to flash to the newest iextreme version. Sometimes they were errors that appeared in the log of jungleflasher (I was getting what seemed to be random errors, different almost each time, but nonetheless the firmware update would abort) and sometimes they would be runtime errors that would cause the program to crash. I started out using the newest version (1.62 beta I believe) which gave me one set of errors, so I downloaded version 1.51 and tried that (again getting a different set of errors). I then downloaded version 1.55 and BINGO, JungleFlasher updated the firmware without a hitch and now all my wave 3 backups are playing just fine. I'm guessing that the coding for JF differs a bit from version to version and most likely are very sensitive to what SATA chipsets are being used. It seemed to me for whatever reason that version 1.51 and 1.62 just didn't like the chipset I was using, however version 1.55 worked perfectly. So if you've been pulling your hair out trying to flash your hitachi drive, most likely you are doing the steps right, you just need to try it with a few different versions of JungleFlasher. I would give it a shot with any version as long as it is 1.51 or higher. Hopefully this helps you guys out because my 10 hour process would have been about a 20 minute one had I just tried this sooner. Peace and good luck!

I use 1.51 as well, and have not had a hitch really with a hit yet. Ive done all the hit's and they have all taken the flash like a champ.
I had rednabled my drivers (because I was dumping my HDD) and forgot to disable them again, and was getting all kinds of sporadic errors, and I wondered what the hell was going on, and thought I had a b*tch of a drive, but then after I found the problem, I had no troubles.
Dont you have your original FW from your drives? I know most people have theirs, if it was modded by someone else, its likely on a disk.
