Hitachi 78

Hi I have to buy a new Hitachi 78
to put in my xbox 360
but have not got the old drive key and can not get the drive key off the old drive
as it does not power on any more
so can i use this new drive
and can i flash it as i have a old key from a 78 so can i just spoof this new one
if so and info would be

I'm not sure if you need the original key from the stock drive, I'm pretty sure you do...

and why can't you power it?? been juggling with it?

Yeah, no original key, no way to flash it. There may be someone on this site that can tell you how to get your key off of the old one, but I think you are screwed. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Don't throw it away though someone here may want to experiment with it and see what can be done.

here is my old dvd key from a 78 but

no it wont

you have to have the key that is for your console
that is a key that for a different 360
as long as im on the same page

there is a way to get the key off a hit drive you have to take the chip off and dump the chip it self with a programmer.
there are not many that do this

i have the programmer but have not needed to use it.

DVD keys are unique to each 360. You can't change them out. The only way your going to be able to fix this 360 is by sending the original drive to somone with an external programmer called a willem and let them remove the flash chip of the drive and try to read it out and get the original firmware. If and only if the flash is still good will you be able to fix this 360 without sending it back to Microsoft.

some people buy them through ebay. If you can't find one there, you'll have to go through the makers website, I can't remember the url right now though... make sure you get the right adapter for the chip that you need to read out too.
