I need a clarification for this step
I am replacing a bad Ms28 (that has not been modded) (that asks me to place a game disk into a xbox 360) with a new MS28 drive that I bought off ebay.
According to the steps in the video and in the tutorials I will get the orig.bin when I do the dSam. I have already got tha sata card installed and used the iprep101 (used the newest definitions to prepare bootable USB drive and verified that it created the Sam-ofw.bin with that 12x FW)
Now my question is:
When I get the orig.bin and when I check that I have a valid key in the 360 firmware toolbox. Do I have to replace the key in the firmware and then create another usb drive with this samsung firemware using iprep.
Or should I use the same usb drive that I have as I am replacing the same drive MS28 with MS28?
Isn't it true that in the process of creating the orig.bin there is also another file created in the same folder where ther Sam-ofw.bin is that is named Sam-cfw.bin and it is a hacked fw that has already the key off the original drive? And since I am replacing the same type drive (MS28 with MS28) I don't need spoofing. So can I just plug in the new drive and run the fSam using the same USB drive that I used in dSam. Or will it brick my new drive?
Could someone elaborate, please?
BTW, I've read the tutorial about spoofing the MS25,28 with BenQ drive but it only muddles it for me as my situation is simpler...
Thanks
Tad

Re: Replacing MS28 carification steps, please
With it being an exact replacement, the only thing that you really need is the firmware from your original drive. Just use iprep to dump your original drive and when it makes the hacked firmware, just shut everything down, check the key and if everything is ok, then put your new ms-28 in place of the original drive and flash it with the hacked firmware. If you were replacing with a Benq, then you would need to replace the key and spoof it, but since its the same drive type its not required.

sadalius is right if you are wanting to flash a hacked firmware for playing backups.
if you are just wanting to flash it back to stock the just do a restore like this.

You will just rename your orig fimware and flash it in.

Thanks guys,
That's what I thought. I've read and reread the tutorials and I was getting more and more confused.
Thanks for making it clear for me.
I'll let you know how it all went

And yes, since I'm already going ito all this trouble of finding all about all this flashin, etc. I'd like to be a able to play backups.
I modded 3 original xboxes with X3 and still have 2 of them at home using xbmc to stream music/videos, etc.
So now it's time to learn new tricks for the fun of it.

Re: Replacing MS28 carification steps, please
Big thanx to sedalius and CoFree for your help.
I just replaced the bad MS28.
It took me a few tries to get the timing right. In my case not 10 seconds but 15 was the magic trick both for dsam and fsam. Saved the origial.bin i thousand places, checked and rechecked that everything works. The rig plays both originals and backups.
You guys are the best and it was funny as I had my original XBOX playing your video on the 62" TV while I was doing this. I was pausing it and going forward and backward until I got it right. Looking at the tutorial in the meantime.
Following the old woodworker motto measure twice, cut once. I measured 15 times.
Thanks again. BTW That was my son's xbox360. Now it's time for mine.
