Flashing Help

Post by acidduck »

Hey,

So i'm trying to flash my drive for the 1st time and i've encountered a problem. After i've booted from iprep and run the software I'm at the stage where you key in your serial number, dBen 1234567 12345 etc... I do this and get an error...
"General failure writing drive c:" Abort, Retry, Fail..... I can't do anything after this error appears, I have to reboot.

Any ideas?

Cheers

make sure you are usinga via6421a or L pci sata card.
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm

if you are then change to a different usb flash.
if you have a floppy that works good then try that just to see if you will get the dump.or at least get it to list xtrene pri master
then you will know it is seeing the 360 drive.

if you dump with a floppy then you have to wait after the dump
it will say reboot computer
"DONT WAIT FOR FIRMTOOL TO RUN" it will take a couple of min for this to start.
after it builds your hacked firmware then restart and check your key

Would've thought my nforce chipset could do it, ordered a via now and also encountered this error in iprep when 'preparing', perhaps this has something to do with it?

ok man
the firmware loaded in iprep when you built the flash with no errors :?:

try a different flash drive or if you have one try building it on a floppy disc.

Fixed the error by disableing the floppy disk controller, now I can get past the dben stage... Here is where I encountered another hich up - I'm stuck on Status: 0x7F I turn the 360 on and it does nothing, so im guessing its not reading the drive at all??

correct acidduck, 0x7F means the card isn't seeing the drive, try a different PCI slot, and a different port on the card.

good to see someone else form Notts on the forum by the way... :)
