Hitachi dead? have not the HIT_ofw

Hello, My friend was erasing his hitachi drive when it suddenly freazed. Now he wants to fix it but hasnt the hit_ofw file he cant find it beacuse it was like 2 month ago. Is there any way to fix it without the hit_ofw/dummy file

'Fraid not, the ofw file contains the key the drive needs to pair it to motherboard to play games... Is the drive definitely dead, does it open/close at all and what does the 360 do if you plug it back in??

The drive can be reprogrammed (if you know someone who can desolder the drives flash chip and has a willem to do it for you), but even if you do that, you still won't have that key. The drive isn't important though...

If you can find the ofw from the drive on your mates pc, then you'll be able to spoof another drive in. But without that file, you have a DVD player...

When you do a flash, it's highly recommended you make a copy of your ofw in more than one place, so even your pc fails, you still have it backed up. Hope you can find it, it unfortunate that it's happened to you with a hitachi
