Error 65

Post by phelixnyc »

Tried updating my Benq ended up not being able to read backup. Tried to restore it, worked. When I flash I usaully have to manually make cfw with batch file, place in the two folders with serial then do a rBen using the cfw. Some how (fault of my own) it erased but would not write. I knew I was screwed then. I have original fw just dont know where to go from here.

Used fben because I could not get past "erasing" when using rBen. Flashed fine could boot my back ups once again. Could using fBen cause a problem in the long run? The error is obviously related to the bad flash, right? Also flashed a few times today does it cause damage to the 360?

it almost sounds like rben couldn't run because there were was no firmware on the drive...

you erase the flash before you write it, if it isn't there in the first place, would that happen (stop me here cofree if I'm talking poo :P)?

In reagrds to flashing, I don't think you can damage your drive by flashing. People still use the 0800 FW's to rip games, and this means 2 flashes every time (unless of course you have a spare drive hangin around)....

if you can get in the drive doing fben then you can get in doing rben
just make sure you have the orig firmware in the 2nd folder and the firmware is named right. benq-ofw just like that with the space.

doing the restore it will come on and do the erease then you do the same steps and do the flash
with out stopping.just do what it says on the screen

flashing and reflashing the drive dont hurt.
i dont think you would want to do it 100 times a day.
but the little we do it its not a problem

think about it like a usb flash drive
you can flash that all you want BUT there is a chance of it just locking up and then its over.

E65: DVD Drive Error.... DVD Timeout, Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This can also be caused by the tray not being fully closed on boot (from Llamma's site).

As I say, I'm not sure if you can leave a drive without any FW (I've never tried it), and if you did I don't know what error code you would get. I just know that when you're flashing a benq you have to delete, then flash.

Thanx. Couldn't you leave a drive without firmware if in the middle of writing it fails?

a drive with out firmware is fine.
its just a big open door.

the bad thing is
getting part of a flash in and then it locking up or your computer crashing.
that is bad
after that it can be hard or impossible to get back in the drive
