Noob Question :) How To Connect xBox 360 DVD ROM to PC :)

I am back again

Alrite i have some stupid noob questions for you I hope you won't mind

I never tried to flash my xbox before.. (paid someone to do it for me) but i guess it's time to learn new things with currect wave thing is going on i may need to replace my firmware time to time.. so better learn how to do it.

I need some help.. I am sorry.. my questions may sound stupid.. but I do not want to mess it up..

1: How to connect my xbox 360 dvd drive to my PC for flashing? (i know how to open xbox, I opened it many times) I have seen some guys using some connector thing. (which i dont have) so i am kinda confused..

Is this red sata enough?

(This aint my xbox 360)



I remeber a non-video tutorial from robinhoodsplayground long back.. It had all details... which wires to disconnect from xbox dvd rom and which one to connect to pc and so on.

I did try to find out but i could not find it.. Do you know where it is from archive?

2: consider me as a total noob and tell me which video tutorial i should go for. I have benq jungleflasher is ok?

I dont wanna spend money on some kit..

ok first connect a sata cable to your drive and then on the pc motherboard,

then use the xbox to power the drive with the power cable

Some say that when u disconnect the sata from the xbox and power it up it will log that data and send it to m$ when u next logon to xbox live
U can use the xbox to power it but i wouldnt personally
What sort of drive are u planning to flash??

i recently flashed my sammy ms25 with iprep 10.7 and ixtreme 1.6 , i used 360 to power dvd and made sure the metal casing was touching pc , then at the stage where u need to power dvd on and off to get into vendor mode u have to be fast , unplug cable from 360 and back in and power 360 on but really fast

Let me give you some pros and cons to this method!

1st the Pros. It's cheap, and it works for Samsungs and Benq drives.

Cons: It's dangerous to your pc and xbox 360! The two systems do not share the same ground and this can cause potentially harmful voltage levels on either system. Also as mentioned earlier your Xbox 360 may log the fact that your system was powered on without the drive connected, therefore signaling to M$ that you must be modifying your drive!

If must insist on modding your drive this way, please take a simple copper wire and connect the metal case of your 360 to any metal on your PC, at least this will limit whatever potential may build up.

Yea 100% agree with technoe on this one. I used the ck3 once and have been using it ever since, it is so easy to use and it makes it go by fast.

(All you need to do is whats in that picture, then turn on your 360, and follow the video tutorial.)
PS, to get the tray half open, power the xbox, eject the tray, pull the power cord out from the back of the drive, push the tray half closed, then plug the power cable back in.
