Open Tray error, but it's not the drive!!
Open Tray error, but it's not the drive!!
Ok guys here's one for some collective thinking! I have a box that is repeatedly getting the open tray error. But the drive test good in another box. I've also used this drive to rip games to my PC. So it's obviously not the drive. I've resolder'd all connection points with same results. Any ideas?

maybe the sata cable connecting the drive to the board. . .

Nope. I even tried a standard sata cable, like the ones in your pc.

I've got older xbox's with Hitachi of Samsung drives in them. I have done pot calibrations on them and bought a new laser for them. Some games would work while others won't. I suspect they will not read games that have been played in my Lite on xbox. Its just a theory though. Its either that or the other discs I put in are too scratched, but they don't really look scratched at all.
I have had to clean the motor in a Hitachi drive twice too. The disc was not spinning fast enough cause there was gunk in there.
