Hi,
I was trying to upgrade my Benq VAD6038 and I was seeing it in JF 1.66 and all. It had already been flashed (1.4 I think) and when I tried to erase it to reflash with ix161 the pc hung and now it is not showing in JF. Is there any way of recovering from this situation, or am I looking at a dead xbox? What are my options, if any?

Unfortunately not.....might be able to get it though from the guy who flashed it. Im not sure it is dead though,
Im getting a drive being found in JF in vendor mode and the following...

Serial flash found with Status 0x73

Sending Device ID request to port 0x8400
Manufacturer ID: 0xC2
Device ID: 0x11
Flash Name: MXIC(MX25L2005)
Flash Size: 262144 bytes

not sure what this is, any ideas?

Well thats weird, seems your drive is in vendor mode, from what you pasted...

Try flashing the drive in jungle, DO NOT erase... BenQ's hitachi's and samsung's do not need to be erased (benq's and sammy's are erased just before they are flashed, and it is done by JF/iPrep)

Hi Haggard,
thanks for thr repkly......That would comply with what I saw happen.....I sent benq unlock command and then tried to read the fw and it hung the whole pc....no mouse, nothing. I then had to reboot the pc and when I did I could see the drive and it reported vendor mode but It would not read the fw off it. I have kinda resigned myself to the loss but cant help wondering if there is some program I dont know of which might recover the situation. It only got to the first dot of the "reading bank 1" mesage before iy happened. I now suspect that my VIA card is the culprit or else the connectivity kit. I since tried to do a liteon and got a similar hanging, but he liteons are more robust and dont seem to die as easy ,tg.

I read somewhere about disabeling the via drivers in device manager as a solution...is that an idea worth trying? Also is windows 7 good for flashing, or is it a no no.
