Flashing Specific Drives

Ok I had a question about firmware and drives. I know there are specific types of drives, but I was wondering about if some of the same samsung drives or benq or whatever you have are different from other same types of drives. Like 2 different samsung drives and how you can tell and if there's specific firmware for each drive you need to use. Also I was wondering where to get the specific firmwares. Also I am using Vista and if flashing drives on vista is different that regular XP. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

you can use a v28 fireware in a v25 drive
but that is the only one that will upgrade like that
