This helps a lot. Kinda sucks though as I was hoping to use this burner for duel purposes. My other dl burner stopped working.

the drive that is recognized is the main drive i guess. It has been hooked up for a while. It is connected through IDE. The new drive is connected with a SATA cable.

even Xbox Backup Creator recognizes the device but doesnt give me the option to use it. It is in the drop down menu, but the start button never lights up even with a blank disc in the drive.

I have read and tried many solutions for getting the disc to be read by the 360. I checked the magnet and it was fine. I took out the motor and added some lube. The disc begins to spin, and the laser bounces back and forth trying to read the disc. this happens a few times then reads unplayable disc....

i used firmware tool box and it says all of the OFW i have are not supported or not valid firmware file. I guess that means its over?
