Keys are specific to each console. You need the key from the xbox with the lite-on in it so you can put another drive in it.

So if the drive is dead theres nothing I can do with the console ? Or is there a way to get the key from the mobo ? I hope so it's pretty new.

IF the drive is dead, and you dont have a key, then sorry to say but its game over for that xbox.

You can see about sending the drive to sadalius or seeing if anyone else can offer some help I have no idea how this would happen... You can see about sending it to ms?

Looks like I'll have to try and blag MS and say I'm getting 3 reds but green when its cool. Might be able to get the original recipt of the guy and take it back to Argos.
Just out of curiosity has anyone ever tried swapping the guts out of a console and taking the broken one back ?
I know it's bad don't slam me just wondering.

Lots of people do it, there is a tutorial on the site about how to do it, but its pretty simple... Buy an xbox, open it up swap the guts, put it back together, return it to the store asap and make some excuse for returning it... Its probably better to pay cash aswell...

I may be doing it soon too, I used an exacto to remove the original sticker on a box, and scraped a bit off the corner, and it got 0020 a bit later, so I am sending it in, and hoping they repair it, if not, gut swapping time...
