iPrep 10.7 + iXtreme 1.61 Help [0x7F Problem)

Post by Aenzo »

I've flashed several 360s in the past without a hitch, MS25's/28s and more than anything BenQ's. But this time I've gotten myself into a huge stump, I can't seem to flash with the latest 10.7 iPrep anymore.

So here's my problem, I decided it was time to update to 1.61, and did everything like one normally does. Installed iPrep 10.7, along with the new ixDef. Downloaded the BenQ 1.61 iX FW. Loaded it up on iPrep, and formatted my USB drive to 32 Bit. Restarted. Rebooted from the USB Drive. No problems so far.

Well, here's what happens, when I get to the MTK Vendor part, I press "Y" Turn off, turn on the 360. But my drive is still not detected. It stays at 0x7F and does not change. If i connect the SATA cable to the other port I get 0x80 but it doesn't change as well. So I'm doubting my VIA card is bad or anything since it detects just fine on Windows 7 64 OS.

I checked Cofree's video when modding the BenQ (By the way, thanks for your amazing videos! These are really helpful.) and noticed he used the C3K. His instantly got recognized. I've followed word for word on the tut, and even tried different power on/off combinations. Even the half-tray powering on, but nothing gets detected.

What can I possibly do? I'm stumped this time. not sure if its because It's been a looong time (About 7 months) since I've flashed or what. But this is turning out to be a nightmare.

I used to use the 008 iPrep in order to flash to iXtreme 1.6 which worked without a hitch at detecting my DVD Drive.

Oh and for extra info, I'm using the original 360 Power Brick + Video Cables to power on the 360 and the DVD Drive this way. I have this VIA SATA Card:

Thanks for any help guys! And I apologize for the really long post, but I feel that it's better to be as informative as possible.

I had this issue for about 1o mins but tryed changing sata lead to next port and then turned off and back on and it worked, Read the banks and all went good, I dont use the CK3 just a Sata lead and power from the 360, Its a Benq aswell and Im using windows 7. May not be the port for you but it was for me. Im not 100% sure I already had in correct port but I am 99% sute it was the top one, I changed it to bottom one and all good.

Good Luck !

I appreciate that nufcmickey! I did change the cable once, but for all I know it could be because it is small after all and need a longer cable? I'll give this a shot and play around, not much else I can do at the moment. Thanks for the tip! 8-)

EDIT: I'd like to mention that the problem lied with iPrep 10.7, I used iPrep v009 with an updated 1.61 ixDef. Worked flawlessly for me. Mainly because I could say No to the first Vendor prompt, on 10.7 when I responded no, it just didn't work after that.

No m8 I didnt use a diff cable or anything, Just merely tryed the other sata port, I have 2 ports and I had it in the top one, Instead I put in bottom one and it worked for me, Was stuck on the numbers like what happened to you and doing nothing just searching forever, I put in other port and started to read the drive.

Anyway very happy you got it working, Theres always someone on here to help you as its a great site who done so much for me, Thanks to them. Enjoy man ! :D

this is kind of off topic.

But i tried making a bootable usb with the latest build of iprep but when it restarted my pc and tried to boot into that usb i couldn't. I had to go back and use an older build of iprep to get it to work.

Just an fyi for anyone that might have been having the same problem.
