k finaly got it to work did all the steps but i think i messed up on the last part when it gonna right the hacked firmware i think i turned it on a second late and now it froze on the writing bank 0.........? can i just start over or will that mess up my 360

ok started it again and this time i turn it on right on it and it started writing and wrote them all.........now u sayed to check wit firmtool....do i still use the floopy or no... when i check....

Actually, you were supposed to check the firmware with firmware toolbox just after dumping the original firmware. This is to make sure that you have a valid key in the dump that you got. That way, if there is something not right with it, you can re-dump, check it and if its good, then flash it, or write that hacked firmware to the drive. If you've already written the hacked firmware to the drive, you can still check the firmware with firmware toolbox or just try to run an original game in the 360 and see if it boots. If it does, then you can try backups.

always check the FW dump before flashing it, always...

if you have a dump with a bad key (00000's or FFFFF's) and you erase the key in the original FW (whilst writing the hacked firmware) you have a rather expensive DVD player.

k i tryed it put 1 of my orginal game and it booted lik normal.....still a lil confused on how i check the firmware....is that a seprate program from iprep...cuz i know when i read it it gave me the keys of my drive.....and it sayed org firmware....and i wrote it down....wit the key drive.....but i guess everything went well cuz my org game booted up fine......now what r good dvd for burning......verbatim - or +...?

save a copy of your orig firmware dump in more than one place.

DL dvd+r verbatim is one of the best disc to use.

yeh i wrote it on a paper and saved it on my pc and online.........or do i gotta save it on a cd..? i just went to the store and got my sum dvd +r dl but brand hp thats all they hadd gonna get the other 1 tomm at a pc store....now as far as updateing the firmware how often do i gotta update it..? is updateing it only for online purpose......

well there are some updates that you will not need to do,but can if you chose.
there will be others that come out that we will say "IS A MUST"
you will want to do that update for sure.

i would tell you to keep up with the updates regardless of you going on live or not.

i would save a copy of the whole orig firmware.
zip it up and email it to your self off your computer.

you have it right at the least you have to have the key.

k i read the 360 for noobs and downloaded xbc i set it to read and it read the game took like 1hr 10mins......then i set it up to write set it up in 2.4x speed then i started it....i left and came back in was at like 5% and it sayed error in writeing sum file to a certain sector...and then it abored the writeing.......i waz trying to back up burn paradise that i own......i using a sony dvd rw dl drive.....and hp dvd r+ dl....any reason y it would come up wit this error...........when it read it and saved it on my pc it sayed no error reported...

sadalius may have some input he uses xbc to burn with.

you could try to burn a DL disc of a movie just to make sure its working.

i noticed when i used xbc it created a dvd file not a iso....is there a other program that i can read my games wit....cuz when i go to use the program u gave me it says to click the iso and the dvd for back up...but i only got a dvd file not a iso...i think that y it not working....

well when you dump with a sh-d162c drive
xbc will give you two files
a small dvd file(the layer break)
and the iso (is the game dump)

when you burn input the dvd file and it will set the layer break
it will know to use the iso of the same name to burn on the disc.

finaly it burned...burned delivil may cry....set it to 4x to read and burned to wit the imgburn....do i have to verify the dvd after it non writing or i dont have to cuz that took a other 1hr 30min?......gonna try this other game burnout to se what happens

no you just untick the verify box as it is not important, it will just waste more time. so the verification is not needed. its better to burn you backup at 2.4 x as you might get problems like dirty disc with burning at 4x so it is recommended on burning at 2.4x. by the way it shouldn't take you more than 45 minutes for burning a disk at 4x.
