Xbox Live Ban Updates
Re: Xbox Live Ban Updates
hi, did you use a backup of your original which wasn't stealth or if you have modded it cosmetically. anything which you done to the xbox which takes extra power or software change would have triggered the ban. so unlucky .
Re: Xbox Live Ban Updates
No it was a downloaded version from mininova (have not gotten around to tearing apart my dvd drive yet) with full stealth checked with Cofree's tutorial. Only mod to the xbox is drive firmware 1.4 x8. Now that i think about it. It might be a bad burn because the disc thrashes like crazy (more then other backups/retail) just before game loads. I burned with imgburn at 1x so maybe bad mediaparminder wrote:hi, did you use a backup of your original which wasn't stealth or if you have modded it cosmetically. anything which you done to the xbox which takes extra power or software change would have triggered the ban. so unlucky .

Well, I'm no Einstein, but there's you problem right there. Maybe you didn't "get the memo", but backing up your own original games is the only way to go. I have yet to hear one story of somebody who carefully modded the firmware of their console and backed up their own original game properly and still got banned.yusky03 wrote:No it was a downloaded version from mininova

there's no current ban wave & no current random reports of bans to my knowledge (except possibly this)...
usually when M$ strike they hit multiples

Re: Xbox Live Ban Updates
That's even more weird. Yusky, are you still able to get on Live, or are you currently banned? More details would be interesting to hear.

Re: Xbox Live Ban Updates
Just a little FYI. They don't have to hit in waves. They can single a person out, or rather make it appear they've been singled out. I just saw the banning of a single console just the other day, and I've seen it before, so yes, it can happen.

Yes I am, I have been able to get on live for almost a week now and this is the only reason I posted. It is very strange that I got the banned error code but no description then it all started working again. The second it got to the update bar I got disconnected from live. I tried to connect in game and it gave me can't connect error that is when I checked the connection and got the error code. Unplugged Ethernet cable rebooted, turned off, and plugged it back in got connection error first try second try logged in.NeoRio wrote:That's even more weird. I think the ban waves are when they get a team together and analyze some data they get from live and ban according to that. That would explain why it happens in ‘waves’.
Random question: To backup your games using the swap disk method does the DVD you use, have to be 8 GB or more or does it just have to be bigger than the game. The biggest DVD I have is 7.85 GB (Sin City)

...or in order to stay on top of the market (beat out the PS3) they wait till Christmas and summer to do their ban waves...that sends people out to buy new 360s and gives a false infusion to the 360's sale rate. It worked last year and kept them at number 1.yusky03 wrote:I think the ban waves are when they get a team together and analyze some data they get from live and ban according to that. I'm pretty sure it just has to be bigger than the game.yusky03 wrote:Random question: To backup your games using the swap disk method does the DVD you use, have to be 8 GB or more or does it just have to be bigger than the game. The biggest DVD I have is 7.85 GB (Sin City)

i would not recommend doing backup that way.
Re: Xbox Live Ban Updates
Care to elaborate. I already have 2 DL DVD burners i just didn't want to have to buy another.CoFree wrote:just bigger than a 360 game.yusky03 wrote:Random question: To backup your games using the swap disk method does the DVD you use, have to be 8 GB or more or does it just have to be bigger than the game. Re: Xbox Live Ban Updates
For the hotswap method, it only needs to be bigger than your game. Like CoFree said, I don't recommend this method either.
